This month’s Adults Supporting Young People chat is focused on School Can't: Navigating the challenges and supporting your young person.

For some young people, the idea of going to school can cause high levels of distress and anxiety, leading to school refusal and increased non-attendance.

Our free online text-based group chat is a space to connect with other parents and carers, share experiences, and explore practical strategies to support your young person through these challenges.

Drop in anytime during the session and leave whenever you need. You can join anonymously if you prefer.

🎭 Purim is coming up - a time for celebration that usually brings joy and a sense of community. But this year, public events and increased security might bring up mixed feelings for some young people - from anxiety about safety to uncertainty about how (or whether) to take part in the celebrations.

If you're feeling different about Purim this year, you don't have to hold it on your own. Our Jewish clinicians can offer you a space to talk about it.

In the wake of the Bondi attack, many people in our community are carrying shock, fear, anger or grief - sometimes all at once. For many Jewish young people and families, this has felt especially personal.

Together with headspace National, our Jewish clinicians, and local community leaders, we’re strengthening support for young people in the Jewish community. Everyone deserves support that feels safe, culturally aware, and genuinely understanding.

Our Jewish clinicians offer a space where young people can talk openly with someone who understands the cultural context and lived experience behind
what they’re feeling.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you can reach out directly by calling or emailing us at (03) 9076 7500 and headspaceelsternwick@alfred.org.au. We also welcome referrals from schools and community networks.

No one has to navigate this alone.

Last week, we celebrated headspace day by making space to create! 💚 Our staff and Youth Advisory Committee teamed up to decorate tiles for a mural that will bring colour and life to our new youth-led community garden project.
