Beccy Cole, one of Australia's favourite country and music performers has come out publicly to share how equine-assisted therapy has helped her get through one of the darkest periods of her life due to her marriage breakdown. She said the stress was so intense she even lost her singing voice for a while.

“The mention of equine-assisted therapy made me a little bit cynical, but it was one of the most incredible things I have experienced, to be with horses who are so intuitive, they
can feel what you’re going through.”

On my last day at the facility I brought my guitar to the horses and sang. “This miniature horse named Sparkles came and put her head on my lap as I was singing. “It was like she was saying ‘You’re back, you’ve got your voice back’.”

Change - why is it important?

🐴Change allows us to move forward in life and experience new and exciting things.
🐴When you don't actively work on evolving yourself, life can possibly become stagnant.
🐴Being open to change, learning new skills or working on your inner self can bring about changes you never knew were possible.

An EAL session, with myself and the horses, can help you to identify how you respond to changes in your life - Do you embrace change or do you try to avoid it?

Change starts with us, and it can start today. It’s our choice.

Are you ready to look forward to change?

It’s ok to need support. In fact, it’s essential. Your support network may be family, friends, mentors, colleagues, other social systems, animals, a paid professional or a combination of these. There is no shame in having a support network that looks different to that of others.

We don’t have a say in the systems we are born into but one of the privileges of adulthood is the ability to build a network that values and truly supports you to heal and grow. It might take time, it may take some trial and error but please know your need for support is not a weakness – it’s simply a sign that you are human.

Calm and healthy horses can provide an emotional and sensory environment for clients that is conducive of calmness and the development of trust. Horses can offer a non-judgemental response to people and an acceptance that is different to other people, even the trained equine practitioner. Horses who are healthy seek closeness with people, triggering the client’s opening to, yearning and want for closeness, affection and connection in that safe environment. This emotional safety and trust engage the client’s brain-body responses and begins new neural pathways, felt sense and body memories for safety in relationship.
