Our Clear Zinc SPF 40 Sunscreen just tested at SPF 71 in independent testing!
That’s right. After changing the type of Zinc Oxide used in our SPF 40 sunscreen, we retested it in a 10-person test using the Australian Sunscreen Standard. Previously, it tested at SPF 44. With the new Zinc Oxide, the results came in even higher at SPF 71 (check out the results on our SPF 40 web page!)
Regular customers will know our sunscreen is a little thicker than most. That, combined with the new Zinc Oxide, has delivered this outstanding result.
In real-world use, SPF 30 is usually sufficient for most people - so this result is more than enough making it ideal for heavy-duty sun exposure. Even though it tested higher, SPF 50+ is the maximum strength allowed on sunscreen labels, so our sunscreen will continue to be labelled as is.
We believe it’s important for brands to share independent sunscreen test results, especially given recent industry concerns. This means we now have results from two separate accredited laboratories: Eurofins and Helioscience, to remove any doubt.
Our sunscreen is also tested for broad spectrum protection and moderate water resistance. In the past 12 months alone, we estimate we’ve invested over $100,000 in independent sunscreen and dental product testing so we can be confident that what we make works exactly as it should. Worth it!
When applying Clear Zinc Sunscreen, dab it on first (it will appear white initially). As it warms to skin temperature, it will rub in clear. This can take around 20 minutes to go almost totally clear. If sunscreen is rubbed off by clothing (such as straps), be sure to reapply. Zinc sunscreen works by sitting on the surface of the skin and reflecting UV - so it needs to stay in place to do its job.
