“Imitate the trees. Learn to lose in order to recover, and remember that nothing stays the same for long.”
~ May Sarton

I chose this quote for my Autumn series of community classes because it reflected the ideas I wanted to introduce.

But looking at it now, I can see how much it reflects what I’ve been doing.

Over the break, I’ve been slowly clearing things that have been cluttering our home.

Old toys that haven’t been touched in years 🧸
A craft box from when my nieces and nephews were little (the youngest is almost 21!) 🎨
Jewellery and accessories from Hubby’s parents and aunt 💍

It made me realise how easy it is to hold onto things—
not because we need them, but because they’ve been there for so long… or because it’s felt too overwhelming to deal with.

And it’s not just physical clutter.

Sometimes it’s ideas, habits, or expectations that we hold onto long after they’ve served their purpose.

Autumn has a quiet way of reminding us that letting go is part of the cycle 🍂

The trees don’t cling to their leaves.
They let them fall, rest for a while, and gather what they need to begin again.

Maybe this season isn’t about doing more,
but about making space.

Letting go of what’s no longer needed.
Making space to rest… and to grow 🌱

🍂 We’ll be gently exploring this in our community class on Sunday 19 April.
More details are available at lailinyoga.com.au/lly-events/community.

🍂 What have you been holding onto that you might be ready to let go?

🍂 RELEASE & GROUND 🌿

As Autumn deepens, it’s a natural time to begin letting go of what we no longer need—just as the trees do—and to find a sense of steadiness within.

In my next community yoga class, we’ll explore gentle ways to release physical and mental tension, and cultivate a sense of stability through movement, breath, and rest.

You can choose to practise from a chair, a mat, or a mixture of both—whatever feels right for your body.

Everyone is welcome.

🗓 Sunday 19 April — 4:00–5:15pm AEST
📍 Boronia Grove Community Centre, Epping & online via Zoom
💛 Pay what you wish (suggested $5–10)

Sharing this again as a gentle reminder to pause …

If you’re looking for something to support you this week, here are the links to this week's suggested YouTube practices:

⏸️ A Moment to Pause 🍂

This time of year often brings a mix of things — reflection, remembrance, and a natural slowing down.

As our Summer term comes to an end, it’s a gentle reminder that rest has its place too.
Not as something we earn, but something we need — time for the body to recover and the mind to settle. 😌

While most classes take a break, Monday classes will continue (with a couple of public holiday pauses).

If you’d like to keep moving gently over the break, you’re very welcome to join in person or online:

✨ Mon 13 & 20 April
• 10:30am Chair-Based
• 12:00pm General Yoga

✨ Sun 19 April
• 4:00–5:15pm Community Class (Chair & Mat options)

Prefer to practise at home?
▶️ YouTube library available anytime: https://youtube.com/

Not sure where to start?
I’ll be sharing a link to a chair & mat practice and relaxation each week during the break in my stories and highlights.

Wishing you a restful break. 🙏

🤫 Silence 🔇

I’ve been reflecting on silence this week.

I listened to a meditation recently where the facilitator allowed long periods of silence. No music — just quiet.

And I felt uncomfortable.

Not because anything was wrong, but because I’ve become so used to having something in the background — music or a video — even when I’m not really listening.

In my in-person sessions, I’ve been using music for relaxation. And I found myself wondering… why? Habit?

Online sessions are different — silence there can indicate tech issues and trigger anxiety.

But if I’m in the room, guiding the relaxation, why would I need music? I never used to use it.

So this week, I tried something different and returned to no music.

I don’t know how it felt for everyone.

But in my own Restorative Yoga practice, it took me longer to settle. And afterwards, I felt more rested than I have in a long time.

What do you prefer — silence or music?

🙏 HARMONY & BALANCE ☯️

Around the Autumn Equinox, day and night come into balance — a tipping point from activity to introspection, a natural moment to pause and reset.

In my upcoming community yoga class, we’ll explore harmony and balance through gentle movement, breathing practices, and relaxation — a chance to slow down, soften, and find steadiness as the seasons begin to shift.

You can choose to practise from a chair, a mat, or a mixture of both, whatever feels right for your body.

Everyone is welcome.
