Communication and Swallowing Difficulties

Adult Speech Therapy is a team of highly experienced Speech Pathologists helping clients with of a range of communication, speech and swallowing difficulties resulting from:

Stroke: aphasia, dyspraxia, dysarthria
Traumatic Brain injury: cognitive communication difficulties, social skills
Vocal disorders: muscle tension dysphonia, nodules, occupational voice users such as teachers. Parkinson's disease: including SPEAK OUT! and LSVT® Loud - Evidence Based Voice treatment
Progressive neurological conditions (such as MS and Motor Neurone Disease): swallowing, saliva control and speech
Dementia: swallowing and communication
Intellectual and physical disability
Autism - neurodivergent affirming, AAC. Our Speech Pathologists work closely with you, your family members and the rest of your team including other allied health clinicians, support workers, nurses and doctors.

💬 Talking all things Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) 💬

We had such a wonderful time catching up with Cathy Taylor, Speech Pathologist, over lunch (and yes… a cup of tea in a monogrammed mug! ☕✨).

Cathy is a published researcher and recognised expert in PPA, so it was such a privilege to share ideas about person-centred therapy for clients living with PPA. The conversation was full of insights, strategies, and a shared passion for making a difference. 💙

As Erin begins her maternity leave to welcome baby number two, we’re sending her all our love and best wishes for this special time ahead. 🍼💕

Erin, you will be so missed — your warmth, experience, and calm presence are such a huge part of our team. We’re so excited for your growing family and can’t wait to meet the newest little addition! 👶✨

It was so wonderful to have Dr Dijana Dragicevich of Sydney Swallowing Diagnostics to perform FEES studies for some of our clients with swallowing difficulties in our clinic on the Central Coast. Dijana is recognised for her expertise in Dysphagia and instrumental assessment of swallowing in the field of Speech Pathology . So we were very excited for her to visit our clinic and provide swallowing diagnostic services that are not available otherwise.
Vanessa and Dijana were able to discuss the results afterwards which will guide targeted therapy to improve our clients swallowing difficulties.

At Adult Speech Therapy we love working with clients with swallowing difficulties to improve enjoyment of eating and drinking again.
With many years of experience with swallowing difficulties and the support of these valuable diagnostic services, we provide tailored services to clients here on the Central Coast.
