Tune in this Thursday at 7:10am on ABC Radio Central Coast (92.5FM) as Kate, founder of Cancer Rehabilitation & Lymphatic Solutions (CRLS) and Coastal Rehab Hub (CRH), speaks about the importance of lymphatic health.

In recognition of Lymphoedema Awareness Month this March, Kate will be discussing why early detection and coordinated care are so important for people living with, or at risk of, lymphoedema.

Greater awareness among both patients and clinicians can make a meaningful difference in improving outcomes and supporting long-term health.

March is Lymphoedema Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about a condition that many people don’t recognise until it has progressed.

Many people think lymphoedema only starts when obvious swelling appears, but early signs are often much more subtle.

You might notice:

• A feeling of heaviness or fullness in an arm or leg
• Tightness in the skin or reduced flexibility
• Clothing, rings or watches leaving deeper marks
• Aching, discomfort or unusual sensations
• Mild swelling that comes and goes
• Changes in movement or range of motion

These symptoms can appear months - or even years - after cancer treatment, particularly if lymph nodes were removed or radiation was involved.

The earlier lymphoedema is identified, the easier it is to manage.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, Lymphoedema Awareness Month is a good reminder to get it checked. Early support can make a meaningful difference.

As summer winds down, it can be a good time to pause and check in with your body.

Hot weather, travel, disrupted routines and increased activity can sometimes highlight things like swelling, fatigue, scar tightness or discomfort — especially after cancer treatment.

If something has felt harder this summer, that doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards. It may simply mean your body needs a different kind of support right now.

An end-of-summer check-in is about noticing what’s changed, what still feels tight or uncomfortable, and what you’d like more ease with as the seasons shift.

Because recovery isn’t seasonal — but your needs can change.

If you're in need of some rest and relaxation, our Prism Light Pod is the perfect way to re-energise your body as we come into Autumn. Contact us at 02 4312 7033 to enquire and book!

Recovery after cancer isn’t always about dramatic milestones.

Sometimes progress looks like less pulling around a scar. A little more shoulder movement. Getting through the day with less fatigue. Sleeping better. Feeling more comfortable in your body.

These changes might seem small — but they matter.

Cancer rehab focuses on improving the details that affect everyday life, helping your body move, function and feel better over time. Because meaningful recovery often happens quietly, one small win at a time.

And every one of those wins deserves to be recognised.

If you’re still feeling tired weeks or months after cancer treatment, you’re not doing anything wrong.

Cancer-related fatigue can linger long after treatment ends. It’s not the same as being “run down,” and it doesn’t always improve with rest alone.

This kind of fatigue can affect your energy, focus, mood and motivation — and it’s incredibly common.

Cancer rehab supports fatigue by looking at the whole picture: movement, lymphatic health, nervous system regulation, scar and tissue recovery, and how your body responds day to day.

You’re not behind. Your body is still healing.

If fatigue is still impacting your day-to-day life, booking a Prism Light Pod session can help increase energy, reduce inflammation, and support better sleep and concentration. Book a session and give your body the support it needs. ❤️

Delivering PBMT using MLS Laser during radiation treatment for head and neck cancer, to minimise the development of radiation dermatitis.
The red light you see is to indicate the laser diodes are activated. The light delivered is invisible and travels 3-4cm into the tissue. The treatment is completely non-invasive and does not generate heat due to the synchronisation of dual light wavelengths, continuous and pulsed.
Recovery timeframes from radiation treatment are faster, and side effects such as oral mucositis, lymphoedema, and the development of radiation fibrosis are minimised.

The delivery of this treatment is supported by the research conducted by Dr Jolien Robijns et al in the DERMISHEAD Clinical Trial 2021.

Successful patient outcomes at CRLS since 2021, have led to the development of the Treatment Model using the MLS Laser in cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management, developed by Kate Perkins, with Dr Catherine Norton.

Finishing cancer treatment is a huge milestone. But for many people, it’s not the moment everything suddenly feels “back to normal.”

Months — even years — later, it’s common to still experience fatigue, stiffness, swelling, nerve changes, or scar-related tightness. This doesn’t mean something is wrong. And it doesn’t mean you’re failing at recovery.

It simply means your body is still healing.

Cancer rehab exists for this phase — not just to rebuild strength, but to improve comfort, movement, confidence and day-to-day function in a way that’s tailored to your treatment history and goals.

Because post-treatment is still recovery, and you deserve support for every part of it.

Call (02) 4312 7033 today to find out more about how Cancer Rehabilitation & Lymphatic Solutions can help support you throughout your recovery.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about grand gestures.

Sometimes it’s about listening to your body, respecting its limits, and giving it the care it needs as it continues to heal.

Today is World Cancer Day — a moment to recognise not just treatment, but everything that comes after.

For many people, the end of treatment isn’t the end of recovery. Fatigue, stiffness, swelling, nerve changes and scar-related tightness can linger long after cancer care finishes.

Cancer rehab exists to support this phase — helping people rebuild movement, energy, comfort and confidence in a way that’s individual, evidence-based and person-centred.

Because awareness matters.

And so does life after cancer.

New technology means cancer rehab is becoming more advanced, more accurate and more effective than ever before.

We're big advocates & early adopters of evidence-based tools like SOZO bioimpedance, MLSÂŽ Laser Therapy and the Prism Light Pod, which are transforming the way we detect, treat and manage the side effects of cancer treatment.

But the real difference comes from how these tools are used. At CRLS, technology never replaces personalised care. It strengthens it. We combine advanced diagnostics and treatment with hands-on therapy, movement support and whole-person care to give our patients the best possible outcomes.

If you’re curious about how these innovations can support your recovery or someone you love, check out our latest blog, 'How Advanced Technology is Changing Cancer Rehabilitation'.

A small change in symptoms is worth paying attention to.

If you’ve noticed:
• swelling that’s new or increasing
• a heaviness that wasn’t there before
• a tight patch around a surgical or radiation site
• lingering pain or stiffness
• a sense that something just feels “different”

Early support can prevent bigger issues later - and tools like SOZO bioimpedance scanning help us pick up lymphatic changes before they become visible. It’s quick, painless, and gives us a clear picture of what’s happening beneath the surface.
