If you’ve been told bone loss is “just part of ageing,” it can feel discouraging.

But research shows that bones remain responsive to targeted, progressive resistance training, even in post-menopausal women and older adults. The key isn’t doing more - it’s doing the right type of loading, safely and consistently.

At Bones For Life, we use evidence-based exercise principles to help you build strength, improve balance, and support bone density - no matter your starting point.

It’s never about being the fittest in the room.
It’s about becoming stronger than you were yesterday. 💪🦴

Balance is a skill - and like any skill, it improves with practice.

Our coach, Nat, has recommended that simple exercises such as standing on one leg while brushing your teeth and heel-to-toe walking will help train your balance system, reduce fall risk, and support long-term bone health.

At Bones For Life, balance training is built into our evidence-based ONERO™ programs, because preventing falls is just as important as building strong bones.

Small daily habits can make a big difference over time.

Bone health is a vital part of your peri-menopause and menopause self-care, yet it’s often overlooked.

Did you know you lose most of your bone density in the first 10 years after menopause? 📉

If you’re in your 50’s, ask your GP to screen your Bone Density! Don’t wait until you’re 70 to worry about fractures.
NOW is the time to act❗️

At Bones For Life, we run the ONERO program, an evidence-based exercise program coached by Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists. It is proven to strengthen bones and prevent Osteopenia and Osteoporosis - reducing the need for medication.

How muscles help protect your bones

Muscles don’t just move your body - they help protect your bones.

When muscles contract during exercise, they place load on bone, which stimulates bone cells to maintain and adapt their strength. Research also shows that exercising muscles release biological signals that influence bone health.

This muscle–bone partnership is why progressive resistance training is such an important part of evidence-based bone health programs like Onero™.

If you’re unsure what type or level of strength training is right for you, a bone health assessment can help guide safe and effective exercise for both muscles and bones. Come and see us!

🦴 Strength training isn’t just about muscles - it’s essential for bone health. ✅

🦴 Bones are living tissue. They respond best to targeted loading, appropriate impact, and gradual progression. When exercise is carefully prescribed and progressed, it can help maintain or improve bone strength while also improving balance and confidence. 🏋️‍♀️

🦴 That’s why Onero™ focuses on evidence-based strength and impact training, individually tailored and safely supervised. If you’re unsure what level of exercise is right for your bones, a bone health assessment can help guide the way. 💪

🦴 Magnesium — the overlooked bone booster!

We all know calcium and vitamin D are key for bone health… but did you know magnesium helps activate vitamin D and move calcium into your bones (where you want it)? 💪

Low magnesium can make it harder for your body to use calcium effectively - so keeping your intake up through foods like leafy greens, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and avocado can make a real difference. 🌿

Pair magnesium-rich foods with bone-loading exercises like the Onero™ Program for the ultimate bone-strengthening combo!

We’re excited to invite you to our first Onero™ Testing – a series of upcoming classes structured to help you achieve the most out of your training by safely identifying your 5-Rep Max for your Deadlift and Back Squat.

When doing the Onero™ program, it is vital to understand that your bones build best when subjected to maximum load against “ground reaction force” or vibration/impact. To achieve the optimal bone building effects based on evidence, your skeleton and muscles need to be subjected to enough load so that your bone matrix gets the “message” to build.

Bones For Life will be running a “TESTING” period every 6-months to help members assess their maximum lift load capacity so that they can work towards achieving the absolute maximal potential from the Onero™ classes.
