Bio
"Up until 1989, I was a music teacher and an active musician. I received my degree in music teaching from Melbourne University, but I was not satisfied with my life. I loved teaching, but I did not feel like I was teaching. Rather, I was simply telling kids how to play music. This difference between teaching and telling led to many internal struggles.
As a result, I lost my passion and drive for music and teaching, but I still loved working with people. I had been training in martial arts for many years. Then, a sudden injury sparked a turning point in my life.
One of my training partners told me, “You should go see my mate, he's a chiropractor and he could help you with your elbow”.
So, I booked a session, and the therapist amazed me. He was not only a chiropractor, but he also an acupuncturist, iridologist, and hypnotist. He was actively involved at a hypnosis college and was reputed to be a great healer and leader in his field.
He noticed I was really interested in what he was doing, so he offered me a job even though I had no background in the healing arts. He taught me bodywork, massage, and I eventually trained as his assistant for almost three years. I discovered through that apprenticeship that I really loved this field. I felt it came easy to me because I already had an interest in Eastern philosophy, meditation, and martial arts.
I always was a teacher at heart, and so the two elements came together. The title of doctor means healer and teacher. After my three year apprenticeship, I said to myself, "I really want to do this, I don't want to be an assistant. I want to be a practitioner." So, I enrolled in the best clinical hypnosis training program at the time: the Australian Academy of Hypnotic Science with Jim Goulding as my primary Lecturer. Here, I procured a diploma and post-graduate diploma.
In order to further my training, I have since participated in countless workshops and courses, including advanced diplomas in a variety of fields of hypnosis. I have also acquired degrees in naturopathy and acupuncture.
It has been 23 years since I started this humbling journey. My passion has now grown to include teaching what I have learned".
