๐ง๐ผ WHEN SHOULD WE STRETCH WHEN WE EXERCISE?๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ
Stretching plays an important role in exercise, but timing matters.
Before a workout, dynamic stretchingโactive movements like leg swings or arm circlesโhelps warm up muscles, increase blood flow, and prepare the body for activity.
Static stretching (holding a muscle in one position) before exercise, however, can reduce strength and performance.
After a workout, static stretching is most effective. Holding stretches for 20โ30 seconds helps lengthen tight muscles, improve flexibility, and aid recovery. This is especially valuable after strength training, running, or high-intensity exercise, when muscles are warm and more responsive.
In short: use dynamic stretches to prepare and static stretches to recover. This balance helps prevent injury, improve performance, and keep your body moving well.
