Endometriosis isn’t caused by oestrogen, but it’s highly responsive to it.

Oestrogen can fuel the growth and activity of endometrial-like tissue, which can increase inflammation, pain, and other symptoms.

It’s not just about the amount of oestrogen. It’s about how your body handles it:
• How your liver metabolises and clears oestrogen
• How your gut eliminates it
• How inflammation is managed
• Progesterone balance alongside oestrogen

When oestrogen clearance is slowed or gut health is off, it can recirculate, adding to symptom load. Supporting detox pathways, gut health, and blood sugar balance can help your body respond better over time.

Endo care isn’t about suppressing your body. It’s about supporting it.

Vitamin D and endometriosis ☀️

Endometriosis isn’t just about periods. It’s an inflammatory, immune-driven condition and vitamin D plays a much bigger role here than most people realise.

Vitamin D helps regulate immune function, modulate inflammation and support healthy cell growth. When levels are low, we often see increased inflammatory signalling and immune dysregulation, both of which can influence pain and lesion activity.

Research has also linked low vitamin D status with more severe endometriosis symptoms in some women. While it’s not a cure, optimising levels can be an important piece of the bigger picture.

We always recommend testing rather than guessing. The goal is optimal, not excessive.

If you have endometriosis and haven’t checked your vitamin D recently, it might be worth exploring as part of your overall plan.

Supplements we love to consider for endometriosis support 🤍

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition influenced by immune activity, oestrogen metabolism and nervous system signalling. While supplements aren’t a cure, the right ones can play a powerful supportive role alongside diet and lifestyle.

Here are a few we often use in clinic at AF Health:

• Omega 3 fatty acids – to help modulate inflammation
• Curcumin – for its anti inflammatory and antioxidant actions
• Magnesium – to support muscle relaxation, pain and nervous system regulation
• Vitamin D – for immune balance and inflammatory control
• DIM – to support healthy oestrogen metabolism
• B complex vitamins – to assist detoxification pathways and energy production

Every body is different, and what works for one person may not be right for another. Dosing and quality matter.

If you’re navigating endo and want personalised support, we’re here to help 🤍

If you have endometriosis and feel more bloated, inflamed or in pain after eating gluten or dairy, you are not imagining it.

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition. For some women, gluten and dairy can aggravate gut irritation, immune activity and inflammatory signalling, which may increase pain and flare symptoms.

That does not mean everyone with endo needs to remove these foods forever. But if you notice more pelvic pain, period flares, bowel changes or fatigue after certain meals, it is worth paying attention.

The goal is not restriction. It is identifying what is driving inflammation in your body and supporting your gut and hormone pathways properly.

If you want help figuring out your triggers, DM us “ENDO”.

What you eat can actually make a difference if you have endometriosis.

Endometriosis isn’t just a “period problem.” It’s a chronic inflammatory condition, influenced by immune activity, oxidative stress and how your body processes oestrogen. The right nutrition can really help support your body.

Here’s what we usually encourage our clients to focus on:

🌿 Antioxidants – These help protect your cells from oxidative stress, which is often higher in endometriosis.

🍓 Polyphenols – Found in berries, green tea, olive oil, and colourful veggies. They support gut health and healthy hormone clearance.

🍊 Flavonoids – Natural compounds that help balance inflammation and support your immune system.

🥕 Terpenoids – Found in foods like peppermint tea and carrots, they can help calm inflammation in the body.

🐟 Omega-3 fatty acids – Important for balancing inflammatory compounds that can worsen pain. Try salmon, sardines, chia or flax.

If painful periods, bloating or flare-ups are holding you back, we take a personalised, root-cause approach in clinic to help you feel better.

Endometriosis & the gut microbiome

The gut microbiome directly influences immune signalling, inflammation and oestrogen metabolism, all key drivers in endometriosis.

Research shows that gut microbes can influence endometrial tissue growth and activity outside the uterus. When the microbiome is imbalanced (dysbiosis), inflammatory pathways can be upregulated and oestrogen clearance impaired, which may worsen pain, lesion activity and overall symptoms.

This helps explain why many people with endometriosis experience ongoing gut symptoms like bloating, constipation, diarrhoea or food sensitivities alongside pelvic pain.

At AF Health, we take a systems-based approach to endometriosis care. By supporting gut microbial balance, reducing inflammation and improving hormone clearance, we aim to address key drivers of symptoms, not just manage pain.

If endometriosis and gut symptoms are showing up together, they’re likely connected.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
This can lead to pelvic pain, painful periods, bloating, fatigue, gut issues and fertility challenges.

It’s not “just bad periods” and it’s not something you have to push through. Endometriosis affects the immune system, hormones and inflammation levels throughout the body.

At AF Health, we take a whole-body approach. We look at inflammation, gut health, hormone balance and stress to help reduce symptoms and improve quality of life, not just mask the pain.

If you’ve been struggling in silence, support is available 🤍

📩 DM us “ENDO” or book an appointment to learn how naturopathic care can support your endometriosis journey.

Eczema or psoriasis flaring up?
Supporting your skin starts from the inside.

These foods can help calm inflammation and support skin repair:
• Omega-3 rich foods to help reduce inflammatory pathways
• Colourful vegetables for antioxidants that support skin healing
• Zinc-rich foods to support immune balance and skin repair
• Probiotic-rich foods to nourish the gut–skin connection
• Hydrating whole foods to support the skin barrier

Skin flares are rarely just “skin deep”. When we support gut health, nutrients, and inflammation, the skin often follows.

If your symptoms keep cycling, personalised support can make all the difference 🤍
