💃🏼 It’s all in the hips! 💃🏼
Remember in Happy Gilmore when Adam Sandler says, “It’s all in the hips”?
Well… turns out, he was onto something!
When we’re stressed, our body releases cortisol, the “fight or flight” hormone, that comes from the hips! It’s designed to protect us, helping us react quickly in danger. But when life keeps us in that constant go-go-go mode, cortisol stays high, & that energy has to go somewhere, so it often stays in our hips, lower back, & pelvis, the body’s emotional storage zone.
That’s why you might feel tight, heavy, or even teary when stretching or moving your hips. It’s not just physical, it’s emotional release, too 💫
✨ How to help your body release cortisol + hip tension:
💃 Move those hips! Do figure 8s, dance, or sway to music, movement signals safety to your nervous system.
🧘♀️ Try hip-openers yoga poses — they physically & energetically release stored tension.
🌬️ Breathe deeply into your belly. Long, slow exhales lower cortisol levels & activate calm.
🌿 Magnesium-rich foods or supplements, magnesium helps balance cortisol & relax tight muscles. You'll often here me suggesting this during healings!
☀️ Morning sunlight & grounding, just 5 minutes outdoors helps reset cortisol rhythms.
🫶 Rest & gentle self-care, high cortisol thrives on exhaustion; slowing down tells your body it’s safe again.
🩵 Laugh, cry, shake, stretch, emotional expression is physical release. Let it flow!
Your hips are like your emotional hard drives, holding onto everything you didn’t have time to process. When you move them, breathe into them, & give them space, you’re not just stretching, you’re detoxing stress, rebalancing hormones, & freeing your energy 🪶✨
Shake it out, babe! Your body will thank you 💃💫
