Fairfield’s children are in the lowest 20% in NSW for social exclusion.

Social isolation limits confidence and connection.

Community-driven programs expand possibility. It means everyone has what they need to succeed.

That’s how fairer futures take shape.

We put "life" in LifeAbility Hub!

We'll start off the month with an April Fools BBQ, then Easter activities, followed by outings including ferry rides to Aqua Golf, the Fairfield Showground Easter Show, the Australian Museum and more!

In recognition of ANZAC Day, we'll have crafts and cookies at our LifeHub as well as an RSL outing, and then we'll wrap up April with an end-of-month BBQ and a visit to the library.

We'll also host an in-house movie day, a pyjama party, and engaging arts and crafts.

Visit fairfoundations.org.au/what-we-do/disability/lifeability-hub/ or contact hello@fairfoundations.org.au for more information.

Harmony Week 2026 💛

This week we came together at LifeAbility Hub to share food, stories, and a bit of who we are.

Our potluck brought staff, participants and families into the same space with dishes that reflected the many cultures that make up our community.
Simple moments like this matter because inclusion is something we build, through connection, respect, and shared experiences.

No matter where we come from, everyone belongs.

Child poverty in South West Sydney is almost double the NSW average.

Fair doesn’t mean equal. It means responding to greater need with greater support.

Targeted, place-based action strengthens families. It means everyone has what they need to succeed.

That’s how fairer futures take shape.

Today we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day
This year’s theme, Together Against Loneliness, reminds us that belonging grows when connection is strong, inclusion is intentional and people are supported to participate fully in community life.

We’re celebrating George and sharing his mum Maria’s powerful perspective on advocacy and trusting her instincts, holding high expectations and building a life surrounded by people who genuinely care.

As Maria says: “People with a disability, any disability, are people just like everyone else. They deserve the same opportunities, options and care as does everyone else.”

Young people in Fairfield are 1.5 times more likely than NSW youth to be disengaged from school and work.

Without support, that can shape a lifetime of limited opportunity.

Mentorship and local partnerships change that trajectory.

A fairer future is possible when people come together.

Through connection, we break down barriers and create community.

This International Women’s Day, a space was created for women to prioritise their own care while connecting with one another in line with the theme “Balancing the Scales". The event included activities such as coffee scrub making, a henna station, and guided journaling prompts designed to encourage reflection and self-awareness.

By focusing on wellbeing, participants were able to relax into the space and allow conversations to unfold naturally, opening the door for new connections to form.

Together, the group reflected on what brings them calm, what they hope for in the year ahead, and the importance of practising gratitude. One woman shared that her goal is to rediscover who she is beyond being a mother and a wife. Others spoke about happiness, forming new friendships and the simple value of coming together.

Change is possible, and as a community, we want to remind you that safety can be found and solidarity is always here because 'balancing the scales' means creating practical, local spaces where women can build supportive networks and feel a greater sense of safety and belonging.
