As the COVID-19 Pandemic continues in our community we have been advised of the following from The Commonwealth and State Governments (COAG).

COAG has received advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) regarding the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 from evidence of community transition.

The following are recommendations for community safety:

* As of 16th March, 2020 the Government advises against public attendance at all organised nonessential gatherings of persons of 500 people or greater;

* Education institutions - schools, TAFE, Colleges, Universities or people catching public transport are not included in the advice for mass gatherings;

* A newly formed National Cabinet established to manage Australia’s response to COVID-19 will meet again this Sunday to further discuss these mass gathering recommendations.

There are ways to protect yourself
from COVID-19 in the same way you would protect yourself from catching flu or other respiratory illnesses:

* Clean your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water;

* Use an alcohol-based sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol wherever possible;

* Cover your sneeze or cough with your elbow or with a tissue, avoid close contact with people who are ill;

* Try to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;

* If you are feeling sick stay home and seek professional medical advice.
