Our final Movember Chats reel is here, and Russ came in swinging with full energy. Exactly what we needed to wrap this series up.

When bunion pain or toe stiffness builds up, it’s often more than just the joint, the intermetatarsal spaces and surrounding intrinsic foot muscles can become tight and fibrotic.
By needling between the tarsal joints, we can influence the capsule, improve local blood flow, and help decompress overloaded soft tissue around the MTP joints.
It’s precise work, and when done correctly, can make a real difference for people dealing with chronic forefoot pain or early-stage arthritis.

At Avia Performance, this is what treatment looks like.
A carpenter/footy player came in with ongoing lower back pain, but we know pain rarely starts or ends where you feel it.
We assessed the chain from the hip flexors and glutes through to the hamstrings and lumbar region, using targeted soft tissue work and needling to restore balance and control.
Our goal isn’t just to ease pain for a few days, it’s to solve the underlying issue through hands-on treatment and tailored exercise prescription that keeps you moving well long after the session.
This is the level of clinical reasoning and precision we bring to every client.

Education has always been at the heart of what we do and 2025 has been a huge year for the education pillar at Avia Performance.

1️⃣ We were proud to publish “Rethinking Overhead Pressing: Identifying and Addressing Hidden Movement Limitations” in the Winter edition of the Massage & Myotherapy Australia Journal, continuing our mission to challenge conventional thinking and refine movement-based rehab.

2️⃣ We were invited to speak at the AMT 2025 Online Conference, where we shared practical frameworks for restoring confident, pain-free overhead movement.

3️⃣ We also worked with the Massage Association of Australia (MAA) to deliver a two-part presentation, one online and one in-person in Parramatta. It was fantastic to connect face-to-face and receive such positive feedback from attendees.

Each of these milestones reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing clinical reasoning, education, and professional development across the industry.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s engaged with and supported our work this year. We’re excited to take an even bigger step forward in 2026 as we continue to grow our education stream.

pulled a strong 230kg deadlift double with ease. He’s competing this December at and training harder than ever.
dowsett is gearing up for her first powerlifting competition in December and smashed a 135kg squat double this week, a huge PB! Can’t wait to see her become a force to be reckoned with.

leading by example with a 132.5kg bench double. As one of our coaches at , Brandon’s not only levelling up his coaching, but also making big strides in his own training. He’ll be making a comeback to the platform next year in the 74kg weight class.

hit a smooth 135kg bench single this week as he continues to fine-tune his technique. It hasn’t been the easiest year for Alex with injuries and moving house, but he’s still showing up and getting it done.

has been an absolute weapon and a pleasure to coach. Kristy hit her first-ever 50kg bench last week, a huge milestone! She’s now taking the plunge and signing up for her first powerlifting comp this December at !

hit her first 100kg squat and it looked easy. Kimmy started with us rehabbing her lower back after surgery in December last year and has gone from strength to strength ever since. After taking part in a novice powerlifting comp, she’s now stepping up to a sanctioned competition for the first time this December!

What a privilege as always to coach such an amazing team of lifters. 💪

This November, we’re getting behind Movember, the charity event that runs all month long to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

We’re calling on the entire Avia community, our social media following, the blokes and our amazing Mo-Sisters, to get involved and help us make an impact.

Here’s how you can take part:

Join the team “Slingin’ Steel and Looking Unreal”. The link is in our bio!

For the blokes: Grow a Mo throughout November and wear it proudly.

For everyone (blokes & Mo-Sisters): Take on the 60km walking challenge, that’s just 2km a day!

The celebration: On the last Saturday of the month, we’ll fire up the BBQ at Avia for a community lunch and wrap things up with the live shaving of the Mo.

It’s all about moving together, having fun, and supporting a cause that saves lives.

So, grow it, walk it, or both, and let’s show what the Avia community can do when we come together.

Hi Everyone! 👋

From 11th August to 15th September, Avia is running a Food Drive to help support people in our community who are doing it tough.

We’re asking for donations of non-perishable food items.

Things like canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and long-life milk.
You’ll see collection boxes at the front of the gym, and you can drop your items in anytime you visit.

It’s a small gesture that can make a huge difference, and together we can really help those in need.
Feel free to spread the word to friends and family too the more, the better!
