Vitalia

Vitalia We ship Australia wide. We run wellness workshops and have an in house naturopath. We were not always so passionate about natural health and well-being.

Located in Brisbane's west, we stock a wide range of wellness products, aromatherapy supplies, DIY raw ingredients and containers, natural pet care & lifestyle products. We didn't know about how our bodies worked or what using harmful products could do to them. We didn't even know what a harmful product was! We used to eat horrendous food, had cupboards full of all the name brand chemical cleaning products (even if we didn’t use them all that much LOL) and just followed the masses in how to “care/suppress” for our body’s health. Our family was introduced to a more natural approach to life through moments where we questioned the safety of something we were doing. It all started with Reeda questioning cleaning practices used in the business she was working at when she was about 23 and how they could be affecting her health. It certainly wasn't trumpet blazing “ah ha” moments that changed our approach. It was a lot of "what if" moments that led us to looking into what we were doing and how it could be affecting us. We started to ask: What if this isn't good for us? What if doing this is causing damage to our bodies? Could there be a better, safer way? The passion for a more natural approach to live came through many years of running a pet care business and making big changes to how things were accepted and done “normally”. Many decisions made were the some of the first in the industry and not something that was widely done or accepted. Becoming parents and realising the importance our decisions had for the health and well-being of our children changed things dramatically. It just got real and we became a lot more focused on trying to make the best decisions for them and their long term health, and also the world that they would inherit. We (well Reeda) researched and researched and made HUGE changes and big decisions about what we would have in our home. We learned about the concerns of BPA in plastics, chemicals in shampoos and body products, makeup, air fresheners, clothes, food and so much more. It certainly opened a Pandora’s box! We made decisions not to use a lot of things because it never made sense to us to put something on and in our bodies that we knew was toxic. We were learning about and using all sorts of natural products (some Brad would bring back from America when he was over there on trips for work). We learned how the world had been created with pretty much everything we needed around us in the sun, plants, air and water and that we were created to thrive. We started eating organic food as much as possible, avoiding certain things and making informed choices, we certainly weren’t perfect, still aren’t, but we make informed choices now rather than just doing what is done. We didn't really have any idea about being able to make our own products and we just thought it was too hard and time consuming (We were wrong!). We were introduced to therapeutic essential oils when our 12 month old daughter struggled with a respiratory issue. Although we had a cupboard full of natural options nothing had ever worked as quickly or effectively. It was very impressive to us and made us want to look deeper into how essential oils worked. This led us to embracing a lifestyle that included using essential oils and opening our minds to the many ways they can be used. We learned how simple it was to make many of the products around our house that we bought elsewhere and could replace them all in our home with simple, cheap and safe ingredients. We want to share with and support others along this journey to live life to the full and embrace a more natural way of life. We have learned so much on our journey that we are excited to share with those who are traveling along the same path, realising that it will and should always look different for each person. We also want to make natural more mainstream, everyone can do it! Whether you are just starting out and feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything, to those who are ready to try the next step, to those who have spent many years and have a wealth of knowledge - we want to help you. We want to make it easier for you to find high quality products, ingredients and supplies that make a difference not only to your life, but to those around you and our precious environment. We want this to be a joint effort where we all help each other to find the solutions we need. We have a vision for helping people lead a healthier, cleaner life to the full, embracing natural products and essential oils. We want to make a difference in the world socially and environmentally and will always be looking for ways we can contribute. We love supporting those who are growing businesses with tools and resources that not only help them grow their business, but also support their customers as well. We want to provide the best customer service we can (with a whole lot of fun added in) and want you to feel like you are a hugely important part of this business - because you are. You are the reason we do this! We hope you find what you are looking for as you travel this natural lifestyle us and that your experience as you journey alongside us brings you solutions that help you live life to the full! If you can’t get access to an Aloe Vera plant - this is the next best thing! Our gel is 98% pure Aloe Vera (there is a small amount of preservative in our gel as it’s impossible for it to be kept for any length of time without growing mould. The preservative is needed.

Aloe Vera has antibacterial, antioxidant and anti inflammatory benefits. It is also very nourishing and healing for the skin.

Perfect for making hand sanitizer gel or even substitute for hair styling gel!

How else do you use Aloe Vera?

If you use essential oils, chances are you use an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser. Oil lovers will often have them in their home, work and car. It is a simple and safe way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils throughout the day.

It can be annoying when the diffuser starts playing up, maybe putting out less mist or even breaking. Sometimes all that is needed is a good clean.

It is really important that you clean your diffuser properly on a regular basis. We would love to say that we do this ourselves, but we will be honest and say that this isn't as frequent in our home as we know it should be. It normally happens when we look at the diffuser as we are about to put oils into it and we can't bear to put our precious oils into the diffuser.

If you choose to be much better disciplined than us, you will get used to the process of cleaning the diffuser and you’ll be maintaining it so that it works better and lasts longer.

Recommended cleaning will vary depending on which diffuser you use. PLEASE read your diffuser manual before you follow the instructions below, just so that you know what you need to do to maintain it and get the best out of it.

To be used only as a general rule of thumb, here’s a list of steps you can follow to clean your essential oil diffuser:

*** ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR DIFFUSER IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE POWER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN IT ***
🌼Fill your diffuser about half way with clean water. Make sure you stop well below the max line.
🌼 Add approx 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. (This will help in removing the oils that are stuck inside the diffuser and on the glass or plastic pieces).
🌼 Let the diffuser run for about 3-5 minutes to allow the water-vinegar mixture to disperse throughout the unit and clean it.
🌼 Drain the diffuser completely.
🌼 Using a cotton tip dipped in vinegar or rubbing alcohol, clean the tight spots, ultrasonic plate and corners of the diffuser to make sure that no spots are left dirty.
🌼 Rinse with clean water and empty.
🌼 Wash the diffuser cover in warm soapy water and allow to dry
🌼 Use a dry cloth to wipe the diffuser and dry it thoroughly.

It is advised to wipe out your diffuser after every use. This will help keep your diffuser functioning best and avoid mixing oils together from a previous use that may affect the aroma of new oils added.

When you care for your diffuser it will work better for you (you will probably notice the output increases after a good clean) and it will also last longer.

How often do you clean your diffuser?

Our nursing balm recipe is a great for mums who are breastfeeding and need support for dry or cracked ni***es. The healing benefits of the ingredients in this recipe will help to soothe, heal and protect damaged and sore skin so it is great to use as a wound care option as well!

We do not recommend using essential oils in a nursing balm, but have included an option to infuse your coconut oil with dried botanicals to benefit from their healing properties.

The recipe below will make around 45g

Did you know? We sell a Nappy Bag Kit that contains almost everything you need for this recipe along with a nursing balm and hand wash to keep in your nappy bag.

What you need

20g Coconut Oil (not Fractionated Coconut Oil)
20g Shea Butter
5g Bees Wax
Small airtight containers

OPTIONAL
Dried botanicals / flowers to use for infusing into coconut oil. We suggest Calendula, Chamomile and/or Lavender for their healing and supportive properties.

What you do

If you would like to infuse your coconut oil with dried botanicals/flowers , here is one way you can do it:

Heat infusion– Place the same ratios of dried flowers to oil in a double boiler and heat over low heat for several hours until the oil takes on the scent of the herbs and changes colour slightly.

When you are ready to use the oil, strain through a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer to remove the herbs. You may want to only strain as much as you need and leave the rest of the oil with the herbs in it until you are ready to use it.

Place the Coconut Oil, Shea Butter and Bees Wax into a glass bowl and gently melt over heat using a double boil method. Be careful of the hot steam.
Once everything is melted, remove the bowl from the saucepan and pour into airtight containers.
Once mixture has set, you can use a toothpick or spoon handle to stir through to break up and soften the top of the mix.

If you prefer a firmer balm, add more beeswax to the mixture.

We love this recipe as it makes a beautiful soft balm that is so nourishing. It is a great gift for a new mum

Today is the day that signifies who Jesus really is.

I was recently those who followed Jesus, watching Him die a horrid death on the cross. They had been followers of this man for 3 years, believing that He was their saviour. He was going to overthrow Rome and become their king. But - He behaved differently to what they expected, He taught things that were opposite to how the world functions, He distrupted things - but not how they expected.

As He was on the cross, how many of them were questioning who this really was that they had spent years following? Here was their so called saviour, nailed to a cross like a common criminal, not even fighting back to declare His innocence...

He told them He would rise again, but did they truly believe this? As He was beaten, ripped apart, stabbed, mocked and humiliated, I could imagine all their hopes and dreams were disappearing in disbelief.

As they laid Him in the tomb, not even being able to prepare Him properly for burial due to the sabbath, what were they thinking? What thoughts of disbelief were running though their heads?
Had they put together the mutiple prophecies that He fulfilled- Did they read Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 which written hundreds of years before Jesus' death, depicts His death with incredible accuracy.

But that wasn't the end!

As the women came on that Sunday morning to give Jesus His proper preparation for burial - THE GRAVE WAS EMPTY!
Even then, they didn't know what happened. Even though He said He would rise again on the third day, they still didn't know. The indignation that someone could have stolen the body grew... the grief was revisited.

The Good News is that Jesus willingly died on that cross to pay the debt that each one of us owes. Our sin was nailed to the cross with Him. We are all sinners and one day will stand before our creator God and be judged for the lives we have lived. None of us are good enough, we have all sinned.

From the beginning of time God's plan was to send His only son as a sacrifice for our sins.
He was born to die.....
In obedience Jesus followed the plan and died the most horrific death and stood before God, innocent Himself, but willingly bearing our sin, to take our judgement. He knew we could become washed clean because He shed His blood in sacrifice for us.

After taking our punishment, Jesus overcame death and rose again. He conquered death and proved who He is - God's son, RISEN to take His rightful place at the right hand side of God.

He was seen by over 500 people after His resurrection, before He ascended into heaven. His death and resurrection has so much evidence for it, how can we not believe what He has done and who He is?
All His followers were willing to die for their belief in Jesus being the Son of God and our saviour (and many did). Their doubts gone! He is who He said He is!

Today is the greatest reminder of Jesus and His obedient sacrifice to save us, so that those who believe in Him and repent of their sins will be forgiven. They will be adopted into His family and receive the beautiful gift of eternal life. What a glorious truth.

My prayer is that each one of you who read this and feel/hear the niggling thought that there must be more to life, will believe in Jesus, repent and ask for His forgiveness for being a sinner. You will be welcomed into God's family and your life will be transformed!

Grasping the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done for you will truly change your life. There is nothing better that you could ever do in your life, this is what you were created for - relationship with God.

Chose to be set free today and accept the Love and Forgiveness of the one who paid it all for you. Please reach out if you have any questions!

He is Risen!!

Have you ever made sauekraut? It's super simple and packed full of great bacteria for your gut's health.

Sauerkraut is a tasty, nutrient-dense, fermented cabbage rich in probiotics, fiber, and vitamins C and K that promotes digestive health, strengthens the immune system, and lowers inflammation.

As a fermented food, it is packed with live probiotic bacteria, such as Lactobacillus, which improve gut flora and gut microbiome integrity.

It has high levels of vitamin C and iron, combing with healthy gut bacteria, it enhances immune function and is a great addition to your diet.

Our Simple Fermenting workshop is only a couple of weeks away and we will be demonstrating how to make sauerkraut, sourdough and kombucha and sharing other tips on how to support a healthy gut. Sophia has been busy making sauerkraut for taste testing during our workshop.

These simple workshops are designed to be just that, simple.
