Jumping 13 years into the future and two healthy pregnancies, Nikki is successfully smoke free for herself and her family 🚭

The rain may have been bolting down on Balyang Bolt day hosted by Wathaurong Aboriginal Co Op, but that didn't stop our runners from absolutely killing it 🌧️

For tens of thousands of years, Lake Bolac hosted a large gathering of clans in early autumn for eel season, representing when eels traditionally begin their spawning migration 💧

Clans met for special and important business such as exchanging ceremony and lore, trading goods, and marriage celebrations 🍂

In recognition of this history, today, Mob mark the occasion with the biennial Lake Bolac Eel Festival, where people gather on the lake shore to learn, remember, and celebrate 🖤💛❤️

The Koori Way team members from DWECH, Gunditjmara and Kirrae were humbled to attend this very special occasion and yarn with 100-plus attendees about their journeys quitting smoking and/or va**ng, loved ones lost to ni****ne addiction and what we would say to to***co companies if given the chance 🚭

Dhauwurd Wurrung Elderly & Community Health Service Inc., Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative, Kirrae Health Service Inc., and Winda-Mara Aboriginal Corporation, supported by The Koori Way set out to make Koori Karnival 2026 bigger and better than last year, and boy, did we succeed! 🥳

We had more than 1,000 people come through the gates at Warrnambool Showgrounds for a day of fun, Culture, and connection, all with the underlying theme of leading healthy lifestyles 🎪
