If you or someone you love is newly diagnosed or undertaking treatment for breast cancer, you may be wondering how you can best provide some extra help, support and care to make their life a little easier.

From undertaking frequent gentle exercise, practising self-care, playing chauffeur, attending appointments or even just helping stock the freezer with homemade meals, there are many ways you can show yourself or the person affected some extra care and support.

We sat down with some of the team at Victorian Breast and Oncology Care (VBOC) to discuss some of the ideas and considerations their patients find most helpful while navigating the breast cancer journey.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or 'BPH' is a condition in which the prostate gland slowly enlarges, blocking the flow of urine. Although not cancerous, it may affect quality of life and create sleep disturbances.

Although some men are able to manage the condition through medication alone under the recommendation of their Urologist, for others, HoLEP or 'Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate' may prove to be the best solution.

We sat down with Urologist Dr Kapil Sethi to discuss what BPH is, the benefits offered to patients by HoLEP and why St Vincent’s East Melbourne is leading the way in this procedure, with the recent investment of specialised equipment.

With breast cancer so prevalent in our community, we sat down with some of the team at Victorian Breast and Oncology Care (VBOC) to discuss some of the risk factors associated with the disease.

With women accounting for 99% of all breast cancer cases*, non-controllable risk factors include gender and genetics / family history. Preventable factors include recommendations around exercise and alcohol consumption.
