Our teams never fail to impress and this year, they've done an amazing job of embracing the spirit of Christmas by dressing up their wards and delivering a little extra cheer during this magical season ✨

There were squeals of delight up on the Kids Ward in East Melbourne last Friday, as Santa himself and 12 of his helpers dropped by to visit some of our young patients 🎅

Very kindly organised by Father Philip and some of his youth workers from the Greek Orthodox Church in Northcote, the team generously came loaded with presents for each child, sweets to gift our Doctors and staff with and candy canes and lollypops for all. There were even leftovers to share amongst more young patients and staff in the lead up to Christmas who may have missed the special visit 🎁

A true display of the Christmas spirit, the smiles on the faces of the children, parents and staff are reflective of the joy this very generous and thoughtful act delivered to all.

A very big thank-you to Father Philip and his parish at Northcote for so kindly organising this special visit. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, filled with the same joy you bought to so many at our hospital last week ✨ 🎄

Our team enjoyed Christmas lunch a week early today, with a special festive feast served up to staff across all four of our Melbourne private hospital sites.

With marinated turkey, apricot glazed ham, vegetable lasagne and fruit mince pies on the menu - amongst many other festive favourites - there was many a full belly going into the afternoon, and some full hearts too as we all enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with one another to reflect on this special time and the year that had been so far.

A big thankyou to everyone who came along and enjoyed the delicious feed and of course, to those working hard behind the scenes to make it all possible and as enjoyable (and delicious!) as it was.

The festive season is here and our hard working teams will soon be taking a short break to celebrate this special time of year.

All of our Private Hospitals will this year be closed from Wednesday, 24th December through to Monday, 5th January with exception of Fitzroy which remains open for maternity and essential clinical services.

Should you need urgent care outside of this, please visit your local emergency department or contact 000. The nearest Emergency Departments to our sites are St Vincent's Public Hospital (Fitzroy) and Mercy Hospital (Werribee).

The Kids Team on Level 3 at East Melbourne have been busy playing Santa’s little helpers, getting the ward Christmas-ready just in time for the festive season 🎄 🔔

Decking out the halls with gingerbread men, presents, stockings, baubles, reindeers, snowmen and flashing lights, there’s even a Christmas train display, naughty elves to find and many a Santa swinging from the roof! 🎅

Whether you’re young or young at heart, it’s certainly a breath taking sight to behold.

A long running tradition, St Vincent's Kids are famous for dressing up their department every few months with a new theme as a way to entertain, distract and delight young patients, families, doctors and staff alike. With staff donating their own time, effort, creative skills and props to the cause, already this year, we’ve seen Dinosaurs, Enchanted Garden, Easter and Disney themes featured – although Christmas is always an enduring favourite 🥰

Nurse Unit Manager Carrie says “Christmas is such a special time of year and we love being able to make it that little bit more magical for our young patients visiting us. To see the joy and smiles on the kids faces, especially when they first walk out of the lifts really is a gift in itself. I’m not sure who loves it more – our team or our beautiful patients and their families.”

A big well done and thank-you to all of the team for another incredible job. We have no doubt you’ll all be on Santa’s nice list this year for all of the joy you bring to others! 💚 ❤️

Celebrations were in full swing at St Vincent’s Private Hospital East Melbourne today, as the team celebrated a double milestone, completing 2️⃣,5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Stryker Mako robotic surgeries, which included 1️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Total Knee Arthroplasties.

Using robotic-arm assisted technology, the Mako assists orthopaedic surgeons to perform robotic hip and knee replacement surgeries by more accurately defining, preparing and executing implant placement, using a customised perioperative plan it has developed, specific to each individual patient.

With two Mako’s onsite, East Melbourne is one of only a few hospitals nationally to provide surgeons with access to multiple MAKO’s, making them a leader in this type of robotic-assisted technology.

Marking the occasion with cake, chocolates and balloons, we also had some of our amazing Doctors and theatre team who have been involved in reaching the accomplishment on hand to celebrate, including Mr Shane Blackmore, Mr William Pianta and Mr Nathan White.
