I was deeply inspired to be part of the 2025 Epworth Doctors Dinner, a shining tribute to the profound impact of healthcare professionals who are driving excellence and pushing boundaries across clinical care, education, research, and mentorship.
This uplifting event brought together doctors, the Epworth Board, and leadership team to celebrate outstanding achievements, mentorship, and collaboration that are transforming lives.
Awards recognizing exceptional contributions were presented, including Epworth Consultant Emeritus status to Professors Helen OConnell AO, Michael Green, and Y.L. Lim, a testament to their remarkable dedication and expertise.
Epworth CEO Professor Andrew Stripp and Board President Ms Wendy Thorpe OAM delivered keynote presentations, showcasing the organization's vision for a brighter future and its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care.
It was wonderful connecting with friends and colleagues, including Associate Professor Marinis, Professor Genie Pedagogos, Dr Debra O'Brien, and Dr. Peter Larkins.

Jason Foley's StocksOnLocation not only shines a spotlight on emerging and established companies, but also highlights the power of compassion by featuring the Australian Breast Care Centre, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the unscreened population of women under 50 regarding breast care, during October - breast cancer awareness month

This often-overlooked demographic accounts for 23% of all breast cancer cases and tends to receive late diagnoses, resulting in poorer outcomes. The event at the Melbourne Racing Club, was a resounding success, masterfully blending information, business, and entertainment for a truly immersive experience. Exciting developments in triple negative breast cancer treatment were also shared by Percheron Therapeutics Limited.

To top it off, I was thrilled to have backed three out of four winners - a testament to the day's winning formula. It was a truly empowering experience that I hope left those attending feel inspired and motivated for positive change. October is just the begining of the journey of awareness, empowerment and change

October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, presents a pivotal opportunity to attend the Australasian Society for Breast Disease's 14th Scientific Meeting.

Appropriately themed 'Bench to Bedside and Beyond: Innovations in Breast Care', this conference translates research advancements into clinical practice, illuminating future directions in breast disease management.

Renowned international experts, including Ashutash Kotharmi, oncoplastic breast surgeon from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital London, shared groundbreaking innovations and advances. Discussions on risk assessment, screening strategies, genetic testing, and complexities in neoadjuvant multidisciplinary approaches was designed to empower attendees.

This event harmonises with the Australian Breast Care Centre's mission, inspiring a brighter future for breast cancer care.

This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the annual RACS ASC Sydney 2025, where I reconnected with colleagues and felt revitalized.

I broadened my knowledge by attending sessions beyond innovations in Breast, Endocrine, and Melanoma management, including a leadership session and a captivating plenary session: AI in Clinical Practice - A New Hope or a Phantom Menace?

I was inspired by insightful presentations from leaders in AI, including Julian Smith, Adam Bridgeman, and Steve Wesselinghe. The resounding message was that AI is a powerful tool that is here to stay, but it's crucial we use it judiciously and maintain leadership.

As Professor Dame Sally Davies aptly put it, "In healthcare, you have to be struck by the power of digital technology-the Fourth Industrial Revolution-to totally change how we deliver healthcare." (and research)

The event concluded on a high note, as I was fortunate enough to win the Dorevitch raffle and took home a lovely bottle of red!.

I was honored to share my story with the members of Tisher Liner FC Law as they celebrated International Women's Day. I reflected on my journey to becoming one of the 15% female surgeons in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and founder and director of the charitable health promotion trust, Australian Breast Care Centre.
My message aimed to inspire women to take ownership of their careers, lives, and well-being, and to encourage them to prioritize their health by embracing the CheckThoseBreasts movement.

It’s sad to hear of the passing of Michael Leunig, Australia’s iconic social and political cartoonist, and poet.

It’s however inspiring to acknowledge the legacy of Michael Leunig and to celebrate his life of contribution.

“The pen has run dry, its ink no longer flowing – yet Mr Curly and his ducks will remain etched in our hearts, cherished and eternal,"

Rest in Peace

As another year comes to a close, I'm thrilled to have completed my role as President of the Medico Legal Society of Victoria, but I'm even more excited to announce that I've been re-elected for another term.

Our AGM at the prestigious Melbourne Club was a huge success, with 100 members in attendance, as well as exceptional guest speakers Steve Van Aperen, Dan Lubman, and Helen Bird.

Gavin Silbert KC's thought-provoking address, The Disappearing Rule of Law, sparked lively discussions.

Stay tuned for our upcoming events, which promise to be just as engaging and informative.
