We provide one on one sessions with passionate physiotherapists who care about you. At Village Physiotherapy Shellharbour, we care about you and you only. We are a team of highly trained Physios and EPs. With one on one personalised sessions, we don’t believe in hooking you up to a machine, rather we believe in education and hands on therapy. Using thorough assessment techniques we find the cause of your problem (pain/injury) rather than just treating the symptoms. In working closely with you, we will reduce pain, increase flexibility, increase strength and lead to increased sports/work performance.

"Meet the Team" - Introducing our receptionists, Chloe (left) and Samantha (right)! They are usually the friendly voices you speak to on the phone and the first people you see when you walk through the door. Chloe has been working with us since November 2023, and Samantha joined us in March 2024. As well as overseeing your experience before and after your appointments, they are always working hard behind the scenes to keep the practice running smoothly.

Fun facts about the reception team:
- Chloe studies linguistics and archaeology at university
- Sam loves all things sport
- Chloe loves a good book, especially a chonky epic fantasy series
- Sam loves to travel
- Chloe enjoys creative hobbies like knitting and sewing
- Sam loves spending time with her three-year-old daughter

This week's tip comes from Maddie: Exercises for thoracic stiffness

The thorax plays an important role in transferring force in the body, so when it isn't functioning properly, pain and dysfunction in other regions of the body can also occur. Although the thoracic spine is often viewed as more stable than its mobile neighbours, the cervical and lumbar regions, it actually provides most of your rotational movement.

Thoracic stiffness - with or without pain - is a common complaint. Today's post covers a few exercises that can help increase your thoracic flexibility and control:

1. Cat-cow (also known as cat-camel)
2. Thread the needle
3. Child's pose
4. Book openers

Please note that changes to your skeletal structure can influence the range and nature of your movement and the individual effectiveness of these exercises. You should also not push to the point of pain without the supervision of a trained physiotherapist. Start small and build up strength and control with consistency! πŸ’ͺ

For the first time in quite a while, we are introducing a new type of group class at Village Physio! These 60-minute classes will be a mix of floor exercises (like our matwork classes) and use of reformer machines, which utilise a spring system to facilitate high intensity but low impact movement. Whether you're a pilates fiend or looking for a new way to exercise, our reformer classes could be just the thing for you!

There is a maximum of 6 people per class, and spaces are already filling up -- so give us a call to book in if you're keen!

CONGRATULATIONS WILL

Will is one of our Junior Athletes and he is currently competing at the Aussie Surf Life Savings Championships.

On his first day of competition he placed 3rd for the 2km Ocean Swim.

His U17s events start Wednesday.
