We’re thrilled to share that Kerry Whitelaw, from our School of Health and Clinical Science at UWA, has been elected to the Pharmaceutical Society of Western Australia (PSWA) Board! 👏

Kerry brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the role, and we’re proud to see her representing UWA in shaping the future of pharmacy practice in WA. Her appointment reflects the strength and leadership within our School, and we look forward to the positive impact she’ll make as PSWA continues to grow and evolve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 133rd PSWA AGM & Pharmacy Celebration ✨

It was a wonderful night reflecting on the achievements of the past year, celebrating 133 years of our Society’s history and sharing plans for the future.

We are so grateful for both our long-standing and new members. Your continued support strengthens the profession and the health of our WA community through initiatives such as the J M O’Hara Research Fund, which advances pharmacy-led research and innovation.

We were honoured to have Dr Tom van Hagen as our guest speaker at the 2025 PSWA Pharmacy Celebration.

We had the privilege of surprising our Eric Kirk Memorial Award recipient, Naomi van Hagen, with Tom’s heartfelt words about their journey together, from meeting on the chemotherapy ward to the many lives they have touched through their shared dedication to cancer care. It was a special moment enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

Tom shared an inspiring reflection on the positive impact of having a pharmacist embedded in his oncology clinic and the value of genuine collaboration between medicine and pharmacy in improving patient outcomes.

At last night’s PSWA 2025 AGM & Pharmacy Celebration, Naomi was awarded the prestigious Eric Kirk Memorial Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to oncology pharmacy and patient advocacy.

We had the privilege of speaking with Naomi about her journey, her innovations in pharmacist-led cancer care and what drives her passion for the profession.

With Australia’s ageing population and increasing medicine complexity, their support in dispensing, compounding, clinical roles, inventory and regulatory tasks is more important than ever.

As the role of pharmacy technicians grows and evolves, so too does our profession. When technicians grow, our entire healthcare team benefits.

So here’s to our dedicated, highly skilled and passionate technician workforce. Thank you for everything you do to advance pharmacy and strengthen health care.
