Effective July 1, 2023, the NDIS will extend its early childhood approach to include children under the age of 9, expanding support for families.

From 1 July 2023, the age range for our early childhood approach will be changing to include children younger than 9.

Currently, the NDIS early childhood approach supports children younger than 7 and their families.

Our early childhood approach is how we support children and their families.

Changing the age to include children younger than 9 ensures these children and their families are supported by an early childhood partner during and after their transition to primary school.

NDIS Quarterly Report: Significant 20% rise in community participation for individuals aged 15+, featuring Aspen—an autistic and q***r advocate—who proudly marched with Autism Spectrum Australia at Sydney Mardi Gras parade.

We have released our latest Quarterly Report. As of 31 March 2023, participation in community and social activities has seen a relative increase of 20% for all participants aged 15 years and older (from 35% to 42%).

In the report you can read about Aspen, who is autistic and identifies as q***r. Aspen was proudly on the Autism Spectrum Australia float at the Sydney Mardi Gras parade in February.

Did you know there are three ways to manage the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan?

1. Self Managed
NDIS Participants manage all the financial aspects of their NDIS plan, such as paying providers and keeping records of their services and invoices. This increases the participant’s control and option over how the plan funds are used but comes with the extra burden of administrating the fund.

2. Plan Managed
This option puts the management of NDIS funding in the hands of an independent expert, the so called Plan Manager. The PM Manages the NDIS funds and paperwork and pay provider’s bills. This option is paid for separately out of the NDIS plan and does not affect any of the other supports.

3. NDIA Managed
This option puts the National Disability Insurance Agency in charge of the NDIS funding. The NDIA handles all the financial administration of the plan. However, unlike plan management, participant can only access providers that are registered with the NDIS, which may limit the support options.

If you have any question about fund management options or plan management, Smart Lodge is here to help you. To connect with us please call us on 0370351692 or email us on info@smartlodge.com.au
