Diversity is our greatest strength 🧡
This Harmony Week (16–22 March), we are proud to celebrate the vibrant tapestry of cultures, languages, and experiences that make our organisation – and the communities we serve – so unique.
Inclusivity is thread through everything we do. It’s why we have tailored our training to meet you where you’re at. Whether you're looking to improve your English or gain new vocational skills, we’re here to support you.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their career goals ✅
Opendoor has been supporting people to prepare for, find, and secure meaningful employment for 40 years. We connect our extensive networks with the broader community for one overarching purpose: to help people find employment and to improve their lives.
We are so proud to see our hard work being reflected in the feedback we receive, and we are here to support you too.
Today we came together to celebrate 40 years of Opendoor. Staff joined online, and many gathered in person at Footscray to share the milestone together.
We were honoured to hear from our founding members Tim Budge, Karen Synon and Newton Daddow. They reflected on how Westgate Community Initiatives Group began in 1986, and the simple but strong belief that people deserve opportunity, dignity and support. Our Board Chair Michael Noonan joined the conversation and spoke about the responsibility we carry today, as we continue this important work.
We also heard from Erica Puglisi, a former participant of our Springboard and Better Futures programs. Erica shared her experience of growing up in child protection, and the impact of consistent care and belief from our staff. Erica spoke from the heart. The room was visibly moved by her honesty and strength. Erica's story was inspirational.
Today Erica is raising her daughter and building her small business. Her story is a clear reminder that the work you do shapes lives. It is a privilege to support people like Erica.
Thank you to every staff member who joined the celebration. Forty years of Opendoor exists because of people like you who show up each day with care, belief and a commitment to supporting others.

💜 This we’re celebrating the incredible impact of women who invest their time to support others. The 2026 theme is , and there’s no better example of this than our very own Jenny.
Jenny has over two decades of training experience, and she’s been with Opendoor for over 8 years teaching Early Childhood Education and Care – empowering a cohort that is primarily made up of women.
For Jenny, teaching isn't just about passing on a curriculum; it’s about the transformation of the individuals she teaches. She educates people of all ages and from all walks of life, and she gains immense satisfaction from watching them set and meet their goals.
By giving her experience and encouragement, Jenny sees individuals go from:
1. Shy and quiet ➡️ Outspoken and self-assured
2. Uncertain and unskilled ➡️ Ready for employment
3. Learners ➡️ Empowered professionals
As a mum of three, Jenny knows that the knowledge she shares doesn't just stay in the classroom. It flows through her students to the children, parents, and carers they will support throughout their careers. The positive impact is truly wide reaching!
Jenny, thank you for your passion and for believing in our students until they believe in themselves. You embody the spirit of Give to Gain every single day. Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day 🙌
We are reflecting on this year’s theme of “Give to Gain”. At Opendoor, we know that “giving” isn’t always a tangible thing – it’s so much more than that. It’s giving respect, opportunities, and a voice to every person in the community.
We are proud to support women to feel they truly belong. We give them strength through our training, employment, and allied health services, and we support them with a diverse and understanding community.
Today, we celebrate the women who make up Opendoor and our community, and we reaffirm our commitment to give as much as we can so that they can gain.
