Meet the Team Monday 👋🏽

This week we’re introducing Dr Jess Crawley, GP at FTMC Group.

Jess has been working in Forster since 2022 & has recently achieved Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) - a significant milestone in his career!

Prior to general practice, Jess worked within the Queensland hospital system, gaining broad experience across paediatrics, general medicine, cardiology, geriatric medicine, emergency medicine, anaesthetics, & obstetrics & gynaecology.

Jess grew up between New South Wales & Queensland. He was a high school teacher before going back to university & studying medicine in Western Australia. Bringing quite a unique perspective to patient care!

Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing sport, music, and making the most of the coastal lifestyle.

Dr Crawley has particular interests in:
• Paediatrics
• Family medicine
• General health & wellbeing

Living on the coast means higher sun exposure, which also means a higher risk of skin cancer.

Skin checks are one of the simplest ways to detect changes early.

Appointments for skin checks are available at FTMC Group with GPs trained in skin cancer medicine.
Book online via HotDoc & select “skin check” when booking.

Meet the Team Monday 👋

This week we’re introducing Dr Monika Schuch, GP Supervisor, & a long-standing GP at FTMC Group.

Dr Schuch graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1987 & has been caring for the Forster community since 1991, over 35 years of dedicated service.

Throughout that time, she has built lifelong relationships with her patients, caring for families across generations. In many cases, she has looked after mothers during pregnancy & is now caring for their children as adults starting families of their own.

This year, Dr Schuch has moved to a 3 day work week, enjoying a better work/life balance while continuing to support her longterm patients.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys making the most of the Great Lakes lifestyle with ocean swimming, stand up paddling, walking & gardening.

Dr Schuch has particular interests in:
• Women’s health
• Skin conditions
• General health & wellbeing

Meet the Team Monday 👋

This week we’re introducing Dr Jamie Fernando, GP Supervisor & Practice Principal at FTMC Group.

Dr Fernando completed his medical degree at the University of NSW in Sydney & has been caring for the Forster community since 2009.

Originally from Gulargambone in regional NSW, a small town with only a few hundred residents, Dr Fernando now enjoys the coastal lifestyle with his family here in the Great Lakes area.

Outside the clinic, you may spot him on the touch footy fields this winter, with sport still a big part of his life.

Dr Fernando enjoys all aspects of general practice & has particular interests in:
• Preventative health
• Skin cancer medicine
• Paediatrics
• Sports medicine
• Indigenous health

Meet the Team Monday 👋🏽

This week we’re introducing Dr George Castillo, Practice Principal & GP Supervisor at FTMC Group.

Dr Castillo first moved to Forster as a GP registrar in 2011. What was meant to be a temporary move quickly turned into something more permanent.

While out for a run over the bridge one day, he decided he’d take it as a sign, if he saw dolphins, he’d stay in Forster.

Sure enough… dolphins appeared 🐬

Dr Castillo decided to stay, & has been caring for the Forster Tuncurry community ever since.

Luckily for the community, he didn’t know there are always dolphins under the bridge…!

Dr Castillo’s special interests include:
• Neurology
• Children’s health
• Skin cancer
• Aged care
