Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected? Grounding techniques can help bring you back to the here and now—gently reconnecting you with your body and surroundings.

Here are a few you can try when things feel like too much:

5-4-3-2-1 technique – Name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you can taste.

Box breathing – Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Repeat a few times.

Hold something textured – A smooth stone, soft fabric, or even an ice cube. Notice the sensation.

Sip a warm drink slowly – Let yourself fully experience the warmth, taste, and scent.
