🌟 Celebrating Our Very Own Bowls Superstar! 🌟

Our very own Malcolm was part of the Strzelecki Bowls Region Division 4 Premiership Team this past weekend, alongside a bunch of other local legends from the Foster Bowls Club! 🏆

Every week, Malcolm comes home and tells us all about his bowling adventures and we absolutely love hearing every story. His passion, excitement and dedication is infectious!

Living in an Aged Care Home doesn’t mean stepping back from community life. Malcolm shows us all that you can stay active, connected, and involved in the things you love.

Well done, Malcolm! We’re so proud of you. 🎉

Introducing our new Care Manager, Kirsten Amos!

We are pleased to formally introduce Kirsten Amos, who commenced in the role of Care Manager on 9 February 2026.
Kirsten brings with her 15 years of aged care experience and over 20 years in nursing, offering a depth of expertise, leadership and clinical knowledge.
We are delighted to welcome her and are confident that her passion, professionalism and commitment to high‑quality care will greatly enrich our team.
Kirsten has already integrated seamlessly into the organisation, and we look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make in her role as Care Manager.

A New Era in Aged Care Begins! 🌟
1 November 2025, the New Aged Care Act went live!!!!

Australia’s aged care system has officially entered a new chapter with the commencement of the New Aged Care Act 2024. This landmark legislation puts older Australians at the heart of aged care, ensuring dignity, choice, and respect for every individual accessing government-funded services.
Key Highlights of the New Act:
- A Statement of Rights enshrined in law, empowering older people to make decisions about their care.
- A simplified entry system with a single assessment process for easier access to services.
- - Stronger quality standards and regulatory oversight to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Enhanced protections for whistleblowers and safeguards around supported decision-making.
- New fee arrangements based on means-tested contributions for non-clinical and everyday services.

This reform is a response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and represents a once-in-a-generation transformation of the sector.

Today's New Aged Care Act information is about Cultural Safety.

The new Act recognises that people accessing aged care have the right to culturally safe care,
including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

• This means care that is trauma aware, healing-informed and respectful of culture, spirituality
and identity.

• The new Act also supports the right to stay connected to community, Country and Island Home. This is essential to the well-being of many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

• The new system will make sure these rights are part of both the delivery of and assessment for,
aged care services, making sure care is delivered in a way that is respectful, safe and meaningful.

If an older person or their representative is not happy with their aged care services or how a complaint was handled, they have the right to speak up.

1. Talk to Your Aged Care Provider Again
• Speak to a manager or staff member
• Use feedback forms or meetings

2. Contact the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission

• You can complain confidentially or anonymously

3. Get Help from OPAN (Older Persons Advocacy Network)

• OPAN can help you write your complaint or speak up for you
