New client birth story up on the blog now!

“Things didn’t exactly go to plan for Marianthi and Evan but with the help of their Birth Preparation workshop, patience and teamwork they were able to birth their beautiful baby Gabriel.

Marianthi tells us her story stating,

“I ended up being induced with the balloon on the Saturday night and then having the Syntocinon drop on the Sunday morning.” Marianthi was able to use the techniques covered in the workshop to help her through this unexpected beginning to her birth story.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed and devastated by the catastrophic scenes emerging from Australia’s vicious bushfires.

Families across the country are on edge. Sometimes, children don’t have ways of understanding what they see and can be particularly vulnerable to feelings of anxiety, stress and sadness.

So how do we help our children cope with this unprecedented emergency? How do we make them feel safe? We have published an article on our blog with a few tips on how to start a discussion with your kids.

Most importantly, the Australian Government has recently announced a Bushfire Recovery Access Program which provides free counselling and additional mental health support for individuals, families and emergency services workers affected by the bushfires.

As adults, we can't simply say "no" without providing an explanation. The same rule should apply to talking with kids.

Set your expectations and ensure they are clear. If there is a problem, describe it, express your feelings, and invite your child to work on a solution with you.

Be sure to include consequences. Make suggestions and offer choices. Negotiating is a positive communication tool. Be open to your child's suggestions.

Kids who participate in decisions are more motivated to carry them out.

Let's talk about boosting your little ones self esteem.

Choosing your words carefully and being compassionate is paramount. Let your kids know everyone makes mistakes and you still love them, even when you don't love their behavior.

Why? Kids start developing their sense of self as when they see themselves through their parents' eyes. Your tone of voice, your body language, and your every expression are absorbed by your kids.
