Nothing here is about pretending fear isn’t real.

It’s about realising that avoiding it costs more.

If you can notice what you’re afraid of, you already have capacity.

And whatever shows up this year…
you can handle it.

Hello everyone ☺️

After nearly 15 years (yep, fifteen) of writing and rewriting, I’ve finally finished my book — a self-help memoir about losing 90% of my vision in my mid-20s, becoming legally blind, and somehow seeing life more clearly than ever.

It’s taken me from being a self-employed tradie to becoming a psychologist — and it’s completely changed how I see myself, others, and the world around me. When everything felt uncertain, it was finding a sense of purpose that became the lifeline that pulled me through.

The book explores going from surviving to thriving, navigating messy family stuff, and learning (the hard way) how to change old beliefs that used to hold me back.

I’m now looking for publishers — in Melbourne, across Australia, or even overseas — or anyone with contacts or recommendations.

Thanks so much for any help! 🤙🏼

Change the narrative you allow yourself to play on repeat in your head.
Rewrite the script that other people and past experiences wrote for you.

It’s possible to be grateful for the survival strategies that got you here,
and still recognise they’re not what you need going forward.
Anxiety isn’t always about real danger.
It’s often about perceived danger. Shaped by old wounds, negative core beliefs developed in childhood (early maladaptive schemas), and brain wiring developed in times when safety had to be the top priority.
You’re not alone, it’s common to keep using those same mental scripts,
even when they no longer reflect your current reality.
That doesn’t make you weak.
It means your brain is doing what it learned to do.

But what if, instead of letting anxiety shape how we see our world, what if
we shifted how we see anxiety itself?
Real change sometimes starts by changing the way we interpret emotions,
especially the difficult ones.
We can respect the old narrative for what it was.But if you’re ready to move forward, you can create one that reflects who you are now, and gives you back some control.

It’s not just about enjoying what you’ve been given — it’s much more powerful than that.

It’s about creating what you want, and who you want to be, with what you’ve been given.

Do what you can now — mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally — to enjoy life.
Don’t wait for it to get better. Make it better.

I’ve heard it all before: “You won’t care about that stuff when you’re older.”
Usually referring to worrying what people think, social anxiety, or performance pressure.

Even a psychologist I really respect — someone whose work I admire — once said that to me.

And I told him straight:

“F**k that. I’m not waiting till I’m older. I’m working on it now.”

Because growth doesn’t come from waiting.
It comes from deciding you’re worth the effort — right now.

Make decisions. Don’t just set goals.

One major decision I made, when I started studying over 10 years ago…

Was that I wanted to be practising as a psychologist by the time I was 40. I am practising as a “provisional“ psychologist. Therefore… This means technically, I made it😂 And because this started happening a month before I turn 41 (a couple of days ago), I didn’t go over my goal👌🏽☺️

We can be the most positive person a young individual meets in their day.

Start by saying the words you believe they need to hear. They might not use them today, tomorrow, or even this year; it could be five, ten, or more years before they recall your words during a time of need, providing them with the self-belief and courage to change or save their life. Young people absorb more than we realize. Harsh words can wound them in the moment, but kind words, even if their effect isn't immediate, will serve an important function later, potentially when they need it most. So, it will always be worthwhile, to say those words, you want to share.
