Meet the Team | Dr Melissa Lee

Dr Mel brings a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to skin health and aesthetic medicine with a special interest in acne, rosacea and menopause care.

Her favourite treatment? Rejuran polynucleotides for supporting skin repair and long-term skin quality.

When she’s not in clinic, you’ll find her in full mum-mode, keeping up with her 2 young kids, staying active at the gym and starting the day with her daily matcha.

And one skin myth she’d love to bust?
There’s no such thing as “poreless” skin. Healthy, functioning skin is the goal.

Have you noticed that the sides of your neck & face appear more sun-damaged & aged than the central areas?
This is usually caused by a combination of issues:
🔹Environmental over-exposure of the right side of our face due to driving
🔹Concentrating our sun protection on the bits that we can see (forehead, nose, front of cheeks & down the middle of the neck), forgetting about the unfortunate side bits
🔹Nuking the sides of the neck with perfume.

So, don’t scrimp on the SPF! Slap it on thickly and spread it all the way to the edges (including the ears & the back of your neck)
And please please stop putting perfume on your neck.

There can be a photosensitivity reaction between the product and UV light, leading to production of excessive pigmentation.
We do have ways of improving this skin damage, but it’s far better to avoid it happening in the first place.

🔹Pop your perfume at the nape of your neck under your hairline.

💦Spray it upwards and walk through it

🥰Or just don’t wear any - rely on your natural pheromones and awesomeness.

This patient underwent IPL treatment to the chest to target Poikiloderma of Civatte.

📸 Before & 4 weeks after just 1 IPL session, performed by our Senior Dermal Therapist Georgia. Look at these results!

A further treatment can now be undertaken to refine deeper residual vessels.

Poikiloderma of Civatte is a common skin condition that presents as mottled redness, pigmentation and visible blood vessels across the décolletage. It most commonly affects the sides of the neck and upper chest and is primarily caused by long-term sun exposure. While harmless, Poikiloderma of Civatte does not resolve on its own and typically requires targeted treatment to improve skin tone and texture.

Contributing factors include:
☀️ Chronic sun exposure (the biggest trigger)
🧬 Genetics & fair skin types
🌸 Hormonal changes (peri- & post-menopause)
🧴 Photosensitising fragrances or skincare on the neck
🔥 Ongoing heat and inflammation

☀️ Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential to protect results and minimise ongoing UV damage.

🎄 Festive Opening Hours 🎄

SkinBox will be closing early on Wednesday 24th December at 1:00pm and will be closed from Thursday 25th December through to Thursday 1st January.

We’ll reopen refreshed and ready for 2026 on Friday 2nd January — 8:00am to 5:00pm (normal hours).

If you need to get in touch during the break, urgent queries can be emailed to hello@skinboxclinics.com.au (checked once daily).
Non-urgent queries will be responded to once we reopen.
