Kindness isn’t just good for others — it’s a healing act for yourself too. Research shows that simple, spontaneous gestures of kindness can:
• Increase happiness, life satisfaction and resilience.
• Reduce anxiety, stress and feelings of loneliness.
• Improve physical wellbeing (for example, lower blood pressure and enhance connection).
Here are 3 simple ways to activate kindness today:
1. Surprise someone — buy a coffee for a neighbour or colleague, hold the door open with a genuine smile.
Did you know that Fremantle coffee bar "Flint and Ember" on Queen St have a Suspended Coffee board?
This means you can purchase a coffee. It goes up on the board and then is given out when someone is in need of some kindness.
Take a moment — send an unexpected note of thanks to someone who supports you.
Self‑kindness counts, too — extend care inward: give yourself permission to rest, to reflect, to do something that comforts your soul.
When we act kindly, we deepen connection, support others AND ourselves.
