I'm sooo angry, I'm struggling for words and those that know me, know this doesn't happen often.

According to the Mothers and Babies 2023 report, Australia's c-section rate has hit 40%.

Women and their babies deserve better. Society needs to stand up and shout "ENOUGH!"

Ladies, your body is not broken, the system is, and you need to take ownership of the birth of your baby. Educate yourselves away from the system, and build your birth team that absolutely has you.

Are you currently pregnant, or have you given birth in the ACT after 1 September 2024?

We’re gathering feedback to help us understand the experiences of women and birthing people accessing maternity care.

The Maternity in Focus: ACT Maternity Survey will help us know what we’re doing well and how we can improve.

The survey is open to anyone who gives birth in the ACT and will remain ongoing.

If you are birthing in one of our public hospitals, keep an eye out for this postcard inside your ‘blue book’ with prompts on how to do the survey.

Yesterday morning was an emotional but positive step forward to improving maternity services in Australia.

Something needs to be done with yet another increase in caesarean sections, now sitting at 38% of birth in 2021. I suspect we will be over 40% for 2023. 😞 With more inductions than ever and more women reporting birth trauma (over 4000 submissions to the current NSW government Inquiry). It just isn't good enough.

A woman's birth is the very roots of society.

Thank you to Helen Haines MP, Llew O'Brien MP and Alicia Payne MP to for your passion and commitment to improving our maternity system for all women. I truly hope more of your parliamentary colleagues join you.
