UQ SAMS

UQ SAMS UQ Veterinary Student Association’s Small Animal Medicine & Surgery Special Interest Group.

Helping veterinary / tech students further their skills and find their love for small animal medicine and surgery. Our aims include:

• To provide students with the opportunity to practice and build on clinical skills essential for practice prior to graduating as veterinary surgeons

• To provide students with the chance to learn about the different specialties within small animal medicine and surgery and career pathways within these specialties

• To provide students with the opportunity to network with various specialists and surgeons within the field of small animal medicine and surgery to aid in the transition from university to practicing as veterinary surgeons in this particular field

We aim to achieve the above by:
• Running workshops.
• Holding seminars.
• Having lunchtime lectures and inviting veterinary specialists and surgeons from various fields of small animal medicine and surgery.
• Fostering relationships between students interested in this field of veterinary science and various veterinary surgeries/clinics by providing the opportunity to network at workshops/seminars/lectures.
• Introducing students to staff that we have here at UQ who are involved in small animal medicine and surgery who can aid in achieving the above aims.
