This wonderful charity in the USA supports our cancer research with funding. What a great fun event!

This year's virtual event is packed with fun. Walk, run, hike for canine cancer cures.

Just a reminder we are still after dogs with cancer, especially mast cell tumour, melanoma and other cancers that can be injected from the skin surface for our immunotherapy trial. Please direct enquiries to our lead veterinarian Dr Matthew Weston matthew.weston@uq.net.au

Researchers at The University of Queensland are looking for volunteer pet dogs with a specific cancer diagnosis to test a new treatment.

Hi Everyone,
We have a new medical trial for intratumoural adjuvant treatment of cancer funded by a Philanthropic donation be the United States based Canine Cancer Research Alliance. We are so grateful for their support! Dogs suitable for this trial can have tumours that can’t be removed surgically. These could include mast cell tumours, melanomas and others. Your pet dog must have a diagnosis and referral from your veterinary surgeon. We will need their medical records and to be in touch with your vet. Our lead researcher is veterinarian Matthew Weston. Please contact us via this Facebook group is you would like more information.
Sincerely A/Prof Rachel Allavena

Annika, Matthew and I thank everyone for the interest in our research. The response to Annika's TV appearances has been quite overwhelming. Unfortunately it has been difficult to keep up with inquiries. If your dog has cancer and you haven't been able to get hold of us please consider talking to your regular vet about referral to a veterinary oncologist.
Unfortunately our research funding will run out shortly There is very little research funding available for working on pet dogs unfortunately, and we have limited slots in the trial but will do our best to accommodate what dogs we can.

Here is our story featured on Channel πŸ”Ÿ News!

There are so many brave dogs I could have posted pictures of, and so many wonderful and dedicated owners I have met on this journey to find a cure - this big dude and his family are helping spread the word so we can hopefully get more funding and continue the trial to help more dogs battling with cancer ❀️

The star of the show today: Griffin! This beautiful boy and his family made a trip to the UQ Gatton campus today for a UQ News story filming session πŸŽ₯

And I am pretty sure he ate his weight in liver treats πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In case you haven’t heard, Griffin is one of my patients in the canine cancer vaccine trial, who was given a heartbreaking prognosis of only 3 months, back in December 2017. And here he is today, 18 months later, cancer free, starring in his own news story! And what an amazing story it is, for Griffin and his family. πŸ’•
Thanks for making the trip today and helping us spread the word of this clinical trial πŸ™πŸ»
