October is Mental Health Awareness Month. It's ok to not be ok.

October is Mental Health Awareness Month. It's ok to not be ok.

Quite often when we talk about mental health, we talk about it when we’re not travelling well. Mental health is not just about the tough times – it’s about building meaningful connections throughout life’s pivotal moments.

Whether it’s checking in with a friend who isn’t behaving how they typically do, offering support during life changes, or creating space for honest conversations, these connections are the foundation of good mental health.

Throughout October, Mental Health Coalition of South Australia is hosting a range of events to encourage communities to talk more openly about mental health, and help people find the resources they need.

🔹Leaders 🔹Caretakers 🔹Custodians of tradition & so much more.

On Wednesday’s International Day of Older Persons, we celebrate our older generation's contributions to society.

"All communities and ages benefit from the wisdom of older persons. They have much to teach about navigating uncertainty, resolving conflict, and building solidarity across generations,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

“Let’s commit to listening, learning, and acting. Let’s build a world where all people – of every age – can live with respect, security and opportunity."

We would like to introduce to our GMC family Dr. Iqbal Muhamad, MBChB, FRNZCGP

Dr Iqbal Muhamad works 4 days per week, Mon- Thurs.

Dr. Iqbal Muhamad is a medical doctor with a broad background in healthcare. After graduating from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2013, he began his medical career in Malaysia, where he worked across a variety of clinical settings and gained invaluable experience in both urban and rural healthcare.

In 2016, Dr. Muhamad returned to New Zealand to pursue his Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP). He practiced in multiple cities across New Zealand before relocating to Australia to continue his medical career.

Dr. Muhamad believes in a holistic approach to healthcare, placing great importance on understanding each patient as an individual—considering not only their physical health but also their social, cultural, and emotional well-being. With a warm and approachable manner, he strives to build strong, lasting relationships with his patients and their families.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Muhamad is passionate about the culinary arts, particularly barbecue, smoking meats and artisanal pizza making. His dedication to precision and creativity in cooking reflects the same qualities he brings to his medical practice. He believes that good food is one of life’s greatest pleasures.
