The Treehouse Geelong

The Treehouse Geelong The Treehouse Geelong offers support for families living with ASD.

For more than 10 years, local organisation The Treehouse Geelong has been providing essential guidance and encouragement to families living with autism, often working in association with disability support agency Access Your Supports (AYS) to enable proactive plans of action. Thanks to the generous support of community members and groups, such as the YMCA, Sensory Sisters, Hayeswinckle, Wendy’s We

ighted Blankets and many others, this volunteer-run organisation has been able to provide invaluable resources to the community. After working closely for four years, the beneficial association between The Treehouse Geelong and Access Your Supports – with AYS operating as the main financial backer for Treehouse – is now primed to work even more effectively for families in Geelong and the surrounding regions, with The Treehouse Geelong being officially acquired by AYS in a decision seen by both organisations as a strengthening of their partnership. Since its inception in 2008, The Treehouse Geelong has acted as a useful source of information for families living with autism that are looking to make decisions about their next steps involving official treatment, education and support, in addition to providing an empathetic community that can offer a ‘lived experience’ perspective. Similarly, by offering services such as Support Coordination and Plan Management to NDIS participants, AYS has for the past five years enabled individuals and families living with a disability the opportunity to access support involving education, employment and a wide range of therapies. By officially combining their skill sets and capabilities, The Treehouse Geelong and AYS aim to deliver a streamlined service for families living with autism and a free, no-commitment service to the community.

As Autism Awareness Month draws to a close, we're proud to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to inclusion.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower helps us recognise that not all disabilities are visible, and that some patrons may need extra time, understanding, or support. Patrons wearing the sunflower are welcome to use accessible entry lanes at Gates 1 and 13.

The teams from Kardinia Park Stadium Trust (), Geelong Football Club (), FRS (), and Event Force (.force) are all trained to recognise the sunflower and offer assistance wherever you are in the stadium, should you need it.

We're committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for people with autism and for all those living with a hidden disability. 🌻

And remember, our Inclusion Officers are also here to help. You can call 0439 305 980 on event days if you need assistance.

“Australia cannot afford a system where people are found ineligible for the NDIS but cannot access support anywhere else.”
AFDO CEO Ross Joyce has raised serious concerns about reform measures that shift participants into mainstream and foundational services without ensuring those systems are ready, funded and accessible.
“The purpose of the NDIS is to support people with disability to live ordinary lives, with dignity, independence and participation in the community. If reform is driven primarily by cost control, we risk undermining that purpose.”
These decisions affect whether people can work, study, maintain their health or get through the day.
Reform must be matched by investment in health, mental health, education and community services to prevent cost shifting and service gaps.
