Hello Poppets, what an incredibly amazing year this has turned out to be. My little business has almost trippled the number of dollies, teddy's and beloved toys that have come to visit which is totally overwhelming...
We have also added 2 new babies to our tribe of grandchildren which has brought so much joy, and lots of knitting for me to do.
I thank every single one of you for firstly, your trust in me to restore your treasures, and secondly your patience, (my kingdom for an intelligent octopus) as I only have one pair of hands and a limited number of hours in a day, though I'd do 24 per day if I could.
Life, as it does for everyone, has thrown a few challenges my way, that have slowed me down in the last few months, but I am working hard to get all my outstanding poppets returned home before Christmas....
Again so much gratitude to you all, much love Sue ❤️

Here's a few pics of some of the other things that have taken up the spare hours of my year....

Just a little background about myself for those who may be interested.
Aside from my very obvious love of all things doll related.
I also have a background in visual arts, and have held exhibitions of both my painted, drawn and sculptural works, as well as crystal jewellery and healing tools. I've also created many children's murals in several institutions around Geelong.
If you're interested you can find some of this on my other page Gentle Eagle Creations. https://www.facebook.com/share/17b1CtnxUn/
Go on, go take a peek.

As well as my love of repairing all your beautiful old dolls, I thought I'd share a few pictures of where it all began, with some of the reproductions I made myself in the past...from unfired greenware to the hand painted features and finally the completed doll and costuming. My favourite of course is my big Bru...I knew I'd probably never own a real one, so I made one instead.
There are others that have been given to family members over the years.

Ruby came in for some much earned TLC and a new do.
As a constant companion, she was carrying the scars of years of loving. As well as alot of tape holding her together.
Her wig was way beyond restoration so her owner chose a stunning new one for her.
After making her a new cloth body and sewing on her arms and legs....we folded her original body (which had been disassembled to use as a pattern to make sure her new body fit perfectly) into a small bundle which was placed in the lower body before putting her solid torso back on.
There were such happy smiles when she was reunited today and went home to have many more adventures. Thankyou for visiting us Ruby...have fun 💖

And the universe says, "no more sewing for today" after giving myself an unexpected 'piercing' straight through my index finger with a large needle i was pushing into a plastic dolls leg with pliers....
A few choice words later, it was harder pulling it back out than anything. Some antiseptic and a bandaide and it doesn't look much, but throbs like a 'biatche'.....
Who says doll repairs aren't a high risk occupation 🤣🤣🤣🪆

It's been such a busy year here at Little Poppets with so many beautiful babes passing through our doors.
But the Most Outstanding Babe's are these two joyous additions to our family.
We've been blessed with 2 gorgeous new Grandchildren this year...
Little Jax and gorgeous Eden....
Much as I love all the dolly's and stuffed toys who visit....
These two are my absolute favourites this year.
Please note we also adore our other 7 grandies just as much...
How blessed are we 💙❤️❤️💙💙❤️💙❤️❤️

One of my most long term and favourite patients. This beautiful AM 390 came to me with extensive damage.
Her head was deeply pitted across the forehead from a previous glue job which peeled away layers when it had been removed. Her eyes had fallen out, her eyelids had dettatched and most of her lashes were gone, one had also broken from their rocker setting, she needed new fingers and damage to her arm and leg sockets and neck hole. And the most difficult job was the top of her left leg which had been smashed into pieces. Talk about a jigsaw puzzle.
Her wig was tangled and in need of repair..
This became a very long term job, with a few different approaches, trial and error (the leg) until i was able to basically rebuild her thigh with the pieces of her composition set into air dry clay and many hours of sanding smooth.
Eventually, one bit at a time, and several trials at matching her original paint colours, she began to look like she should....putting her all together and seeing her sitting up gazing back at me was a very emotional moment.
As was the day I returned her to her owner...believe me we both cried.
Today she sent me the first photo of the doll dressed in her mums christening gown and baby shoes....
These are the jobs that make it so worthwhile. Thankyou Fiona for entrusting her to my care ❤️

A most unusual doll visited me this week. He was hand knitted from Russia, and came to Australia many years ago. His stuffing had disintegrated to dust, and he had so many holes that needed repairing.
First job was to disassemble him and hand wash, very gently, then dry flat to prevent any more damage.
His construction was fascinating. He had a strange rod through his body which was really sticky.
After hours of picking up old stitches and reknitting what I could, as well as sewn repairs where that wasn't possible, he slowly took shape.
After sewing his seams, and restuffing, he once again took a 3D form...
I chose to place a supportive rod of foam, with his stick strapped to it, inside the length of his body to help him sit upright.
All the offcuts and frayed bits that came from his repairs, I bundled up and sewed into a little heart, which now sits inside his chest so all his memories stay with him. Now he can bring joy to his family for many more years.
