These 2 companion's were so well loved, they needed a very large dose of TLC.
The Pedigree walker was in pretty rough shape, her eyes and lounge were rattling about in her head, her legs were very loose, and she had some serious structural damage.
Teddy was definitely looking all of his 70+ years, was threadbare in many places and had lost an eye.
After many hours of careful stitching, new buttons for his eyes and a bit of extra stuffing. He went home wearing a new vest which was done up with his original button eye. His voice box was my first attempt, but sadly it didn't squeak once resealed.
Dolly was given a replacement vintage Saran wig, many mends, I then repainted her body. Her eyes and tongue were put back in place, and I touched up her pretty face.
I found a sweet dress and knickers set for her to go home in, and topped it off with a flower and bow to match.

Note* the owner requested not to replace his missing eye.

So Poppets, the very special big doll i was working on has been completed and gone home. What a wonderful experience it was putting her back together and seeing her sitting up on the table....they really do come back to life.
Our beauty measured in at a whopping 37.5 inches tall.
I laminated the pieces of the newspaper from 1932 that I had found stuffed in her arm and they now stay with her as part of her history.
Her Mum sent me a photo of her once she got home and was dressed. So pretty. I have to admit Im awfully proud of this restoration. It one I will never forget. ❤️

Reerooting...time consuming fiddly frustrating fun.But so worthwhile it when it's all done.

I often wonder, who the little person was that loved my dolls when they were new, and what stories they can tell....
Wherever possible I try to get those stories from dolls I own and also those who come for repairs.

Huge weekend at the Geelong Yuletide Medieval Festival....our group had a fantastic time doing battle for the crowds, and watching other performers. The fire dancers were amazing....back to the real world today once we unpack the vehicles, then back to all your dolls....
From 67 down to about 58 now....hang in there my poppets, working as fast as 2 hands can 💜

For any of my wonderfully patient Poppets waiting for their dolly/teddy's return....my aim is to get as many home by Xmas as I physically can....
2 major medieval events have clobbered the end of November (as well as myself.)
Come Dec 1st...full steam ahead 🚂🚂🚂
