Anxiety can show up in different ways ... in our thoughts, our bodies, our feelings, and even our behaviours.

👉 It might sound like constant “what ifs” or self-doubt.

👉 It might feel like a racing heart, nausea, or trouble sleeping.

👉 It might look like avoiding situations, feeling restless, or over-checking things.

Recognising these signs is the first step toward managing anxiety and finding strategies that help. You don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for support can make a big difference.

Big feelings can be overwhelming for kids and parents.

Emotion coaching helps children understand, express, and manage their emotions, while helping parents stay calm and connected.

When we notice, name, and validate emotions, children feel safe and supported, making it easier for them to problem-solve and thrive.

Our wonderful Educational & Developmental Psychologist Tayla from our clinic in Melton is developing a Post-Diagnosis Support Program to empower individuals and families to understand, embrace, and navigate life following a neurodevelopmental diagnosis such as autism or ADHD.

The program will begin with five recorded webinars and downloadable resources designed to provide practical, evidence-informed information after diagnosis, strengthen wellbeing and identity, and support families, adults, and clinicians.

To make sure the content truly reflects the needs and priorities of our community, she is seeking input from:

Families and adults who have recently or previously received a diagnosis, or are currently going through the assessment process

Clinicians and allied-health professionals who support clients post-diagnosis
Each short survey takes only 3–5 minutes to complete, and responses are open until Friday 14 November.

Spotting the Signs of Adolescence

As children grow into teens, you may notice some changes in their behaviour and emotions. These shifts are a normal part of development and growing independence

Some common signs include:
🚪 Wanting more privacy (closing doors, time alone)
😔 Mood shifts – irritability, tearfulness, or frustration
👯‍♀️ Spending more time with friends, less with family
🛌 Changes in sleep patterns – staying up late, sleeping in
🪞 Becoming more self-conscious about appearance
🙈 Increased sensitivity to criticism or embarrassment
⚖️ Testing limits and questioning family rules
⚡ Fluctuating energy and motivation levels

Remember: these changes are part of your teen learning who they are and how they fit into the world

If you’re finding it challenging to support your young person through this stage, our team is here to help.

Ever notice how your thoughts, feelings, and actions all influence each other?
That’s what Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is all about

CBT helps us break unhelpful cycles by noticing the connection between:
💭 What we THINK
💙 How we FEEL
🌀 What we DO

By changing one part of the cycle, we can shift the others—and move toward healthier patterns and wellbeing.

Small changes in thoughts, behaviours, or feelings can make a big difference.

Book in an appointment with one of our psychologists to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns
