I am beyond thrilled for this learner! ❤️They have made tremendous improvements in their skills to read. The book above is where we started and the book below is where they are at now! Achieving mastery in reading and writing the sounds she has learnt through segmenting and blending in only a weekly 50 min session over the last term and a half.

My heart just melted when she finished today’s session beaming whilst saying ‘I can read so much now!’ 🌸

Word reading and writing - revising taught spelling code to achieve mastery as well as word fluency. 🌸
Amazing to see the progress this learner has made from being unable to identify any letter sounds to achieving mastery of the sounds explicitly taught. ✨

Word building with more complex sounds using a multi sensory approach. Here we are practising the 4 different spellings of the sound /er/. 🌸

🌸Word Building - helps students to link speech sounds to letters, and then blend these sounds together to create words. Students start with the simple and move towards learning more complex sounds and spellings. At Blossom, students are working on their individual phonics skills based on what they know and what they need to learn next! 🌸

Phoneme manipulation - changing, deleting or adding sounds to a word. An important skill to learn to help with phonemic awareness, and ultimately to learn to read and write. Here we are practising phoneme manipulation at each students’ individual point of need.🌸
