Sometimes pregnancy can be compared to a marathon - you train and prepare with all the focus on the race or the "main event" 🏃
Yet there is not much thought given to the recovery period.
Sure, you might book in for a massage, drink some extra fluids, which is ok post run. Birth however, a little more taxing on the body so a touch more recovery and support required! 🌿
We always suggest Mumma's book in a postpartum visit 2-4 weeks post birth that might be for a massage or a check in with a Naturopath. We always talk about having that booked in the calendar and all the family knows about it so it can be easy for mum to pop out, bub in arms if needed 👶
The fourth trimester...
We are talking about it a little more nowadays which is good, but for us holistic healthcare practitioners, postpartum is more than 6 weeks post birth. We want Mumma to be thriving at 12 and 18 months. Unfortunately research suggests this is not the case with many women.
