Latest NDIS updates — and these are not small changes.

What’s been announced (rolling out across 2026–2027) points to a clear tightening of the scheme:

• Funding for some social and community supports may be reduced or more tightly defined
• Mandatory registration is expected to expand, particularly for personal care and higher-risk supports
• SIL providers may require approval or inclusion on preferred/approved lists
• A new digital payment system is being introduced to track and control spending more closely
• A move toward standardised eligibility assessments for participants
• Fewer scheduled plan reassessments, with longer plans and reviews triggered by change in circumstances

The bigger picture is also becoming clearer:

• The scheme is being financially capped in growth, with projections stabilising at around 600,000 participants over time
• Some participants may transition off the NDIS as criteria tightens
• Increased reliance on Foundational Supports and mainstream services
• Continued rollout of early intervention reforms, including programs like Thriving Kids

This is not a minor reform — it is a significant reshaping of the NDIS, aimed at improving sustainability, consistency, and accountability.

At the same time, we understand that changes like this can feel uncertain.
