🌻 A little bit about me and why AEJ Disability Support exists 🌻

Hello everyone, and welcome to AEJ Disability Support. For those who are new here, I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Amy Jones, and I am the Founder, Director, and Independent Support Worker behind AEJ Disability Support. 🌻💚

Starting AEJ was something very close to my heart. I have always had a strong passion for helping people and making a difference in someone’s day, no matter what they may be going through. Supporting people to live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives is what truly drives me.

Through my work in the disability sector, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many incredible individuals, and that’s what inspired me to create a service that focuses on person-centred, genuine, and supportive care.

AEJ stands for Assist • Empower • Journey, and it represents the values behind everything I do.

I currently provide personalised one-on-one supports across the Geelong, Bellarine, and Surf Coast regions, including:

✨ Community participation
✨ Life skills development
✨ Transport and appointments
✨ Social and recreational activities

My goal is simple — to support people to feel confident, connected, and empowered in their everyday lives.

A Fun-Filled Day with AEJ Disability Support! 🌻

Kiara and I had such a wonderful day out exploring our local community!
We started the morning with a game of mini golf at Fore Fun Mini Golf. There were lots of laughs, a few tricky holes, and plenty of fun along the way! ⛳

After mini golf, we headed over to Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre for some cultural sightseeing. It was a really special experience learning more about Aboriginal culture and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Kiara even got the chance to feed the emus! 🪶

We also spotted a wallaby, but it was feeling a bit shy and stayed at a distance instead of coming over to say hello.

To finish off our lovely afternoon, we spent some time relaxing with a bit of colouring — the perfect way to wind down after such an exciting day. 🎨
Days like this are what AEJ Disability Support is all about — community connection, new experiences, and having fun together.

🌻 What’s in Amy’s car?… A Sensory Box!🌻

At AEJ Disability Support – Assist • Empower • Journey, comfort and regulation don’t stop when we leave the house 🚗💚

I always carry a sensory box so participants have access to calming and engaging supports during travel, transitions, or when environments feel overwhelming.

Inside you might find:
🧠 Fidgets & tactile items
🎨 Calming activities (like colouring)
💚 Comfort objects

Sometimes the biggest difference in someone’s day is having the right support at the right moment — and being prepared matters.

Supporting independence also means supporting regulation, confidence and feeling safe in the community 🌿

Every person is different, so supports are always tailored to individual needs.

Today Ivy, Stella and I headed down to the newly upgraded Rippleside Park for a picnic — and wow, what an incredible space it has become 🌈
It was so heart-warming to see how accessible and inclusive the park now is. From smooth pathways and easy access areas to spaces that genuinely allow everyone to relax, connect and enjoy the outdoors — it’s a huge win for people with disabilities and their families 💚

Watching Ivy and Stella enjoy the space, feeling comfortable, included and free to just be, was such a beautiful reminder of how important thoughtful, accessible community spaces really are 🌻

This park is a perfect example of what’s possible when inclusion is prioritised — and it’s somewhere we’ll definitely be visiting again for picnics, play and fresh air ✨

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m taking a moment to reflect with a very full heart 🌻
Starting AEJ Disability Support almost eight months ago has been one of the biggest and most rewarding achievements of my life. It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has been worth it. The wins, the growth, and most importantly, the incredible participants I have the privilege to support each day make it all so meaningful.
I am beyond grateful to every participant and family who has trusted me to walk alongside them on their journey. You are the reason AEJ exists, and you bring so much joy and purpose to what I do 💚
A huge thank you to my biggest supporters behind the scenes — your belief, encouragement, and constant support mean everything.
As we head into 2026, I’m filled with gratitude, excitement, and hope for what’s ahead for AEJ Disability Support 🌻

What a difference a little organisation and love can make. While we cleaned up, we were listening to the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack and even had a little boogie along the way 🎶✨💚

Ivy’s playroom has been transformed into a calmer, more functional space that encourages play, creativity, and independence.

Creating safe, supportive environments is such an important part of what I do at AEJ Disability Support — spaces that help little (and big) people feel comfortable, confident, and empowered in their own homes.

Attached is the before and after photo showcasing this beautiful transformation — also featuring their cat, Pepper, keeping an eye out the window 🐾

So proud of the positive impact this can have on Ivy’s daily routine 🌻

As we head into the festive season, AEJ Disability Support will only be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

I also want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all my wonderful participants and families. Over the last 7 months, it has been an absolute pleasure supporting you all — from building connections, achieving goals, navigating the hard days, and celebrating the great ones.

🌻 October is Mental Health Awareness Month 🌻

At AEJ Disability Support, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health. 💚
This month, let’s come together to raise awareness, break the stigma, and remind everyone that support is always available.

✨ Here are three simple ways you can support mental health this October:

1. Check in – Reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague. Sometimes a simple “How are you?” makes all the difference.

2. Prioritise self-care – Take time for rest, exercise, creativity, or whatever helps your mind recharge.

3. Speak up – If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. Asking for help is a sign of strength.
