Alison Eastland

Alison Eastland Online courses, individual sessions worldwide via Zoom, and in-person teaching in the Huon Valley. My way of practising and teaching is gentle and easy-paced.

I am deeply inspired by the nature and landscape of the Melurkedee land of the Palawa people that I live and work on (the Huon Valley, lutruwita/Tasmania). My practice over the years has been an oasis for me, and is a calm centre in the midst of change and challenge. I spent my younger years chronically ill, stressed, and in pain, so every day I appreciate the mental and physical ease and strength that my practice has given me. I am so grateful that I can share this practice, thanks to the wisdom, knowledge and generosity of the lineage of teachers who have shared their knowledge and inspired me. After all, most of us have already had enough practice at pushing ourselves and rushing around, and we don’t need any more of that. Despite what you see in popular media, finding calm, ease and courage doesn’t need to involve fancy Yoga poses. Yoga & mindfulness can be a practical, useful, and very nurturing part of your every day life. My moving meditations are within a normal range of movement. The power of the practice comes from mindfulness of the breath and in cultivating kind, non-judgemental attention. I offer courses and private sessions for my local community, as well as online worldwide. I also grow food for my local community on my small farm, where I live with my husband Tom and Bonnie the Dog. I’ve been a Yoga & meditation teacher and a food grower for more than 16 years, and I’ve been a nature lover my whole life. I’m deeply interested in how the practice of Yoga and our belonging with nature can support, comfort, nourish and inspire us in these challenging times. Living and working on Melurkedee country, I respectfully acknowledge the palawa/pakana people as the Traditional Custodians of lutruwita (Tasmania) . I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. My new offering, Calm & Courage is now available at https://alison-eastland.thinkific.com

Join a small friendly group this Saturday for slow, gentle yoga, meditation and guided relaxation. This is a seasonal summer practice to nurture your nervous system, replenish your energy levels and leave you feeling deeply relaxed.
An delicious afternoon tea is included, and the yoga cabin is welcoming and serene. Getting distracted by the view and wedge tailed eagles is not only allowed but encouraged, as is choosing to do the practice in your own way and at your own pace.

I’ve just sent out a newsletter to my subscribers with a very gentle but effective 17 minute practice you can do on, and in bed, as well as some daily life tips for better sleep from Ayurveda and modern research.
As requested by one lovely reader, this video does not require you to get down onto the floor.
There are no weight bearing or standing poses.
You can do the whole sequence sitting and then lying in bed.I’m not surprised that I’ve been getting requests for yoga to help with sleep, given how stressful the news cycle is.
It’s enough to try to balance the demands of ordinary modern life, let alone carrying concerns for the whole world on our shoulders.
I can’t solve any of those big world problems, but at least I can offer some yoga help for sleep!
Probably because I’m neurodivergent with childhood PTSD, I’ve struggled my whole life with sleep that is easily disturbed by tiny sounds, as well as full moons, auroras, and even just too much driving or computer work. So I’ve had to learn and use every trick I can for better sleep.
Yoga has helped enormously.
If I can share something from yoga that works for someone, that makes me happy.
If you’d like this newsletter, sign up before next weekend at https://alisoneastland.com/newsletter and I’ll make sure you get a re-send.

I stayed up too late and this morning I’m tired and completely uncoordinated but it was worth it. Awe inspiring.
So lucky to live and work in this magical place.

It finally feels like summer in our little corner of the world.
I have just a couple of places left in the Summer Calm afternoon retreat on the 31st of January.

Themed along the cycles of the year to cultivate well-being for each season, my nurturing afternoon retreats are relaxed, easy and slow-paced.

All afternoon retreats are held in my warm peaceful yoga cabin near Geeveston, a serene space that will make you feel like you’re a world away from everything.

Beginners are always most welcome, and the group is never any larger than 8 people. Our little yoga community is very friendly and welcoming!

Every retreat includes a delicious afternoon tea.

From me & Elvis Good Boy, we hope that however you celebrate the end of the year is happy & peaceful.
To our wonderful yoga community: thank you for supporting us, for bringing your wonderful selves to yoga and spreading some ripples of peace out into the world.
If you or anyone you know would like some easy little nurturing practices, I have a completely free 8 week series of weekly short practices available at https://alisoneastland.com/simple-little-practices-for-calm
This year over 1,500 people have enjoyed this series and it makes me so happy to imagine the effects of nourished nervous systems rippling calm out into the world and building capacity for compassion, empathy, and inclusivity.
Keep practising, keep hoping, keep breathing. We love you 🐾💚

How are you here at the end of 2025? It's been a lot, I know, and I'm hearing that people are weary; mentally, emotionally & physically.
The best practice I know for this kind of fatigue is yoga nidra guided deep rest.
All you need is a supportive comfortable spot so you can let your body rest, and listen along (it's ok if you fall asleep!)
I’m sending out a summer solstice yoga nidra to my email list today. If you’d like to receive it, pop your email address into my little form at https://alisoneastland.com/newsletter before Wednesday.

I love the cosy come-as-you-are culture of our evening zoom sessions.
At least a couple of people are likely to be in pyjamas.
There will be various dogs randomly booping the screen.
Some locals, like me, might have earth stained hands and hat-hair from fitting in some desperately needed weeding during the break in the rain.
And there’ll be cameras that are switched off too, because introverts are always welcome here.
Elvis likes to supervise from the beanbag.
A few minutes before the session to chat for those who like to, usually about how busy the day was for everyone, or about how much rain everyone’s had or not had in various parts of the country, and after the session, I stick around to answer questions but most are quietly going back into their evening feeling decompressed and peaceful (or already snoring!) 💕

Calm & resilience with Yoga and meditation

The ancient, yet relevant & practical tools of Yoga and meditation can help us today more than ever to regain our energy and serenity.

I love to craft easy, joyful, and practical Yoga and mindfulness programs you can really use in your own unique way to nurture your body & spirit to meet the challenges of every day life.

The only way you can live & love with calm, strength, and ease is by nurturing your own energy & well-being.

No judgements, no fancy Yoga poses, just really useful Yoga & well-being for more calm, ease & freedom in the chaos of real every-day life.
