Had a great morning at the West Adelaide Disability Events Community expo today.

It was our first ever Care Squad expo and it went off amazingly.

Thank you to all the wonderful people that stopped by for a chat and it was great to see so many companies working together for the greatness of the sector.

Slip, slide and Slip, Slop, Slap! ☀️

With the warm weather recently, Jack has been enjoying fun water-based activities to help him cool down, including spending time on his slip and slide.

It’s been wonderful to see him making the most of the sunshine while also staying sun smart with his hat on, sunscreen applied and his drink bottle close by 🧢🧴💧

Today Tahnee was lucky enough to pop into Orange Basket Cafe and meet the incredible team behind the scenes — and the amazing people they support and employ 💛

The cakes were next-level (highly recommend 😍) and the iced drinks were definitely needed today! It was so good to see another disability provider absolutely smashing goals and creating real opportunities.
I loved getting to chat with the crew who make it all happen and seeing firsthand how much pride, confidence and skill they’re building through paid employment.

If you’re in the south of Adelaide, do yourself a favour and go support them. Orange Basket Café is a charitable business doing incredible work — training and employing South Aussies with disabilities, and giving them a real voice and confidence along the way 👏💙

And check out the brew-it-forward they do, such a positive and great act of kindness to pay-it-forward!!!

You know and love our Brew-it-Forward initiative at Orange Basket Cafe at Hackham, and we have some exciting news: we are bringing the tradition of "Prepaid Kindness" to our new Lonsdale site!

At Orange Basket, we believe a cup of coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a connection. Soon, you’ll be able to buy a coffee for a stranger who might need a lift, helping us grow a community of kindness right here at Lonsdale Community Hub. We're located on the same building with Second Chances Op Shop & Furniture at 39 O'Sullivan Beach Road Lonsdale.

🔥 Heatwave Tips: Staying Cool & Safe 🔥

With the hot weather well and truely arriving in Adelaide, here are a few simple ways to stay cool and look after yourself (and each other):
💧 Drink plenty of water — even if you don’t feel thirsty
👕 Wear light, loose clothing and use sunscreen if heading outside
🕶️ Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day
❄️ Keep your home cool — close blinds, use fans/air-con, and open windows in the evening
👵 Check in on others — older adults, children, and people with health conditions may need extra support
🚗 Never leave kids or pets in the car, even for a short time

If you or someone you care for needs extra support during the heat, help is always available.

Stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy your long weekend ☀️
