✨ My Go-To Natural Electrolyte Recipe ✨

Before you reach for the flavoured pre-workout… try this instead:

• 500ml coconut water
• 500ml filtered water
• A pinch of Celtic sea salt
• Fresh squeeze of lime + lemon

That’s it. Simple. Natural. Effective.

Why does this work so well?

Minerals are the spark plugs of the body. Every heartbeat, nerve impulse, muscle contraction and hormone signal relies on minerals like sodium, potassium and magnesium. When we’re stressed, sweating, training, travelling, breastfeeding, pregnant, sick or simply busy - we burn through them quickly.

Low minerals can show up as:

– Fatigue
– Headaches
– Brain fog
– Muscle cramps
– Dizziness
– Sugar cravings
– Poor stress resilience

This little mix supports hydration at a cellular level (not just “water in the stomach”), balances fluids, supports adrenal function and helps stabilise energy.

Hydration isn’t just about drinking more water. It’s about absorbing it properly. 💛

If you’re feeling flat, wired, crampy or constantly thirsty - minerals might be your missing piece.

Today is Teal Ribbon Day - a day to raise awareness for ovarian cancer and to hold space for the women and families affected.

Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” disease… but really, it’s more that the symptoms are subtle and easy to brush off.

Things like:

• Ongoing bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full really quickly
• Needing to wee more often
• Changes in bowel habits
• Persistent fatigue

So many women are told this is “just hormones” or “just stress.” Awareness and body literacy are so important.

Ovarian cancer needs medical care but holistic and integrated health has a beautiful role to play alongside that.

It’s about supporting the whole person during a really tough time:

🌿 Nourishing the body so strength is maintained
🌿 Supporting gut health and immunity
🌿 Calming the nervous system
🌿 Helping with sleep, fatigue and brain fog
🌿 Creating simple, realistic meal plans
🌿 Supporting partners and carers who are often running on empty

Because a diagnosis doesn’t just affect one person. It ripples through the whole family.

The best care happens when practitioners work together - GPs, oncologists, nurse practitioners, naturopaths, psychologists. Collaborative, respectful & patient-centred.

Today, wear teal.
Start the conversation.
Check in on someone.

And if something feels off in your body - advocate for yourself and book a check-up.

🌿 Welcome Katie Flack! 🌿

We’re so excited to welcome Katie, our newest part of the Hills Natural Health family!

Originally from Hobart, Katie completed her Nutrition Sciences degree in 2020 and has since worked across private practice, NDIS nutrition support (including meal planning for neuro-divergent clients), athlete development, and delivering nutrition seminars and webinars.

Katie is a passionate food (and baking!) lover who believes nutrition should feel supportive - not restrictive. Her style is warm, empathetic and realistic, with just the right amount of humour. No boring meal plans here.

✨ Her approach?

• Gentle, non-diet nutrition
• Evidence-based strategies
• Mindful & intuitive eating
• Abundance over restriction
• Food as medicine - without the overwhelm

Katie helps clients improve digestion (including IBS), boost energy, fuel performance, and build sustainable eating habits that actually fit into real life.

If you’re tired of restrictive diets, confused about what to eat, or want support with digestion, energy or balanced nutrition - Katie would love to work with you.

👉 Book via our website or call the clinic to secure your spot. We can’t wait for you to meet her! 💛

🔥🐴Chinese Year of the Fire Horse🐴 🔥 – What It Means for Your Health & Wellbeing

In Chinese astrology, the Year of the Fire Horse is a rare and powerful combination of the Horse (energy, independence, movement) and the Fire element (passion, transformation, intensity).

It only comes around every 60 years.

So what does that mean from a health and wellbeing perspective? 👇

🐎 Horse Energy = Movement & Momentum

Horse years are DYNAMIC. There’s a natural push toward action, freedom and bold decisions.

Health focus: Move your body daily. Think walking in nature, strength training, pilates, dance – anything that feels energising rather than punishing.

🔥 Fire Element = Passion… and Burnout

Fire brings enthusiasm, creativity and drive – but too much can tip into inflammation, anxiety, irritability and exhaustion.

From a naturopathic lens, this is a year to:

- Support the heart & nervous system

- Prioritise sleep and recovery

- Nourish yin to balance excess fire (hydrating foods, magnesium, calming herbs like passionflower & lemon balm)

- Keep inflammation in check with colourful, antioxidant-rich whole foods

Fire Horse energy invites bold authenticity. It’s the “I’m done playing small” year.
But intensity needs grounding.

Balance this with with:

- Breathwork

- Time in nature

- Regular meals (don’t skip when busy!)

When collective energy feels fiery, our job is not to suppress it but to channel it wisely. This is a year for courage and care. Passion and patience. Action and restoration.

If you’ve been feeling wired, inflamed, reactive or stretched thin… your nervous system might need support.

✨ Book a naturopath consult and let’s create a personalised plan to keep your inner fire strong, not burnt out.

If you’re feeling tired, inflamed, out of rhythm or just not quite yourself, this is your reminder:

You don’t have to do it alone.
