How Drinking More Water Can Help You Lose Weight

Does water really help weight loss? The short answer is yes. Drinking water helps boost your metabolism and acts as a a filler and reduces your appetite.

Try the following

1: Drink one glass of water before you start to eat
Drinking it before meals can make you feel fuller reducing the amount of food you eat.

2: Replace calorie-filled drinks with water, black or herbal tea/ cold infusions.
Reduce the soft drinks and juices and replace them with water.
Add a slice of lemon, lime, cucumber, berries, ginger, mint to make it more interesting

3.Make sure you drink enough water
women – 2L (about 8 cups)
men – 2.5L (about 10 cups).

Avoid sugary and artificially sweetened drinks as they are liquid calories with very little nutritional value.

Do skinny teas boost weight loss?

The short answer is- Probably not!
There is very little evidence these products actually work and some may actually be harmful.

They are expensive and probably work by encouraging users to adopt healthier diets and lifestyles.

People should obtain their nutrients, antioxidants, bioactive compounds, and phytochemicals from a balanced diet with a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other plant foods for optimal nutrition, health, and well-being, not from dietary supplements.

Slow cooker Spanish chicken

This slow-cooked stew is packed with Mediterranean flavour from chorizo, olives, tomatoes and peppers. The meat will fall off the bone!
2 tbsp olive oil
1 Spanish onion halved and sliced
12 large bone-in chicken thighs, skin removed
225g pack chorizo picante, thickly sliced
pack of 3 mixed colour peppers, cut into chunks
150g pitted Spanish pimento stuffed green olives
300ml dry white wine (optional)
300ml chicken stock
1 tbsp tomato purée

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large frying pan. Fry 1 sliced Spanish onion for about 5 mins until golden.
Tip into the slow cooker pot (we used a 6.5-litre model), then fry 12 large bone-in skinless chicken thighs and 225g thickly sliced chorizo picante in the same pan until starting to colour – you will need to do this in two batches.
Add to the slow cooker with 3 mixed colour peppers, cut into chunks and 150g pitted Spanish pimento stuffed green olives.
Tip 300ml dry white wine, 300ml chicken stock and 1 tbsp tomato purée into the pan.
Scrape up any bits stuck to the bottom, then tip into the slow cooker, cover and cook on Low for 6 hrs.

Enjoy the family Dinner 🥘

What is comfort eating?

Let’s be honest, we all get food cravings, and once they strike it can be nearly impossible to just say no.
By giving in you’re potentially adding significant calories that can add up big time.
After satisfying a craving, feelings of guilt and defeat often follow.
Why are cravings so tempting at night?
Often times, we associate nighttime with relaxing, and relaxing with eating.
It is our time to wind down and reward ourselves after a long and exhausting day.

Menopause can be associated with sleep disturbances and weight gain, particularly around the abdominal area.
These issues are often linked, with sleep problems potentially contributing to weight gain and vice versa.
Lower estrogen levels during menopause can disrupt sleep, and sleep deprivation can lead to increased appetite, cravings for unhealthy foods, and decreased physical activity, all of which can contribute to weight gain.

Ways to Avoid Overeating at Meals

Sometimes the amazing aroma and delicious flavor gets the best of us.

Especially if we’re a bit on the hungry (or hangry) side.

I’m talking about overeating at meals.

This can have a big impact on our weight, energy levels, and overall health and well being. Of course our body needs food to fuel it and we often (usually) eat amazingly healthy foods.

Here are three tips to avoid overeating at meals. (Psst, turn these into habits and ditch the willpower!):

Tip #1: Start with some water
Tip #2: Try eating “mindfully”
Tip #3: Start with the protein and veggies

How to choose a healthy yogurt?

Many yogurt products contain things that you could do without, like added sweeteners. What should you look for in a healthy yogurt?

Choose unsweetened yogurts

Tip1: Processed yogurt products often contain sweeteners, such as sugar, honey, fruit juice concentrates, and high-fructose corn syrup.

Tip 2: Opt for a high calcium and high protein option. Greek yogurts tend to be higher in protein, as they are strained which removes the liquid whey portion.

Tip 3: Look for probiotic cultures. Some yogurts will provide a source of probiotics, which are the gut-friendly bacteria that support good digestive health.

Plain Greek-style yogurt is relatively high in protein because much of its excess water has been removed. This concentrates the yogurt. On the other extreme, nonfat or “light” yogurts have as little as 4 grams of protein per serving because they have higher water content by volume. You end up with fewer calories and less fat, but also less protein per serving.

Greek or Regular Yogurt?

Plain yogurt typically contains around 10–15 grams of carbs per cup (245 grams), but flavored or sweetened yogurts can easily contain more than 30 grams per serving.

Greek yogurt differs from traditional yogurt because it is strained more times, removing some of the whey and lactose. This gives Greek yogurt about twice as much protein as traditional yogurt and around half the carbs.
