Take time to check in with your breast health🩷

Being familiar with your breasts and noticing any changes early can make a big difference. Regular self-checks and routine mammograms are key to early detection and peace of mind.

Here’s Dr. Sheila Lorenzo, one of our principal GPs, leading by example at a BreastScreen clinic for her own mammogram. It’s a great reminder that looking after your health starts with taking that first step.

Book an appointment with us to have your breasts checked and organise your mammogram. Call us on 9652 1663 or visit our online booking website at www.glenoriemedical.com.au

Understanding UV Radiation & Protecting Your Skin 🌞

With the change of season, higher UV levels are expected, making it the perfect time to remind ourselves how important skin protection really is.

UV (ultraviolet) radiation from the sun can damage the DNA in your skin cells, and over time, this damage can lead to skin cancer.
Even on cool or cloudy days, UV rays can still reach your skin (today's UV will reach 8!). That’s why it’s so important to practise sun safety every day:
👕 Slip on protective clothing
🧴 Slop on SPF 50+ sunscreen
🧢 Slap on a hat
🌳 Seek shade
🕶 Slide on sunglasses

But sun safety is only part of the picture! It’s also vital to know your skin - check your skin regularly for new or changing moles, freckles, or spots. Early detection is key, and your GP can perform a skin check to look for any signs of concern.

📅 Book an appointment with your GP today for a skin check and keep your skin safe year-round! Call us on 9652 1663 or book online via www.glenoriemedical.com.au

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀🎗🩷
A time to raise awareness, support research, and encourage early detection.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia, with over 19,800 people expected to be diagnosed this year. That’s 1 in 7 women facing a diagnosis in their lifetime.

Early detection saves lives, and there are steps you can take to protect your breast health:
1. Know your breasts: Get familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel. Perform regular self-checks and report any changes to your doctor.
2. Get screened: Women aged 50–74 are encouraged to have a free mammogram every two years through the BreastScreen Australia program.
3. See your GP: Book an appointment to discuss your breast health.

Your doctor can:
Assess your individual risk factors
Guide you on how to perform self-checks
Refer you for screening if needed
