The Community Café - Cuppa and Chat project was recognised with the 2026 Project of the Year award at this year’s local Australia Day celebrations.
A joint project between BWNG, Gloucester High School (GHS) and the Regional Industry Education Program (RIEP), the project centres around fortnightly morning teas.
Each term, local seniors are invited to attend the morning tea, giving students practice in the preparation and service of food and drinks. ,
In 2025 sixteen students participated in the project.
As well as giving students a taste of the hospitality industry, it’s also been a valuable intergenerational experience, and has fostered familiarity and empathy between seniors and young people of our community.

A Death Cafe is a non-judgmental, open-discussion group where people gather to talk about death, dying, and end-of-life choices while enjoying refreshments. It is not a therapy session, support group, or venue for selling funeral services.
These gatherings are important because they:
• Increase Death Literacy: They foster open conversations that break the stigma around mortality.
• Reduce Fear: By discussing the topic openly, participants often find it reduces anxiety about death.
• Promote Living Fully: Many attendees report that talking about death helps them appreciate and live their lives more intentionally.
• Provide Support: They offer a safe, confidential space for people to express fears, questions, or curiosity about the end of life.
• Reduce Fear: By discussing the topic openly, participants often find that it reduces anxiety about death.

A Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Worker has appointments available at BWNG on a regular basis.

If home doesn’t feel safe anymore you might feel frightened, exhausted, or unsure how much longer you can stay in the same home.
You may find yourself asking:
• Where can I go?
• Will I be safe?
• How will I get money?
• What can I take with me?
• Can I take my car if it’s not in my name?
• What about the kids and their routines?
• What if I’m locked out or cut off from our bank accounts?
• Am I allowed to take money to keep us safe?
• Who do I call? What if no one listens?

Baayali supports women and children with compassion, patience, and care.
