GC Mediations

GC Mediations Parenting Coordination & Child Focused Mediation. Positive impacts resulting in greater outcomes & constructive experiences. What is GC Mediations?

We are a boutique, child focused mediation or family dispute resolution mediation centre. Cassidy has also done study and training to become a qualified Divorce Coach. Cassidy is fully qualified and accredited with Australian Attorney-General's office. She is a passionate FDRP

An FDR Practitioner, or FDRP, is the neutral person who facilitates the mediation process. When a family disagrees about arrangements for children after separation, an FDR practitioner is a good person to ask for help. An FDR practitioner is an independent person trained in mediation and negotiation and specialising in family disputes. They are neutral and don’t take sides with any of the people involved in the mediation. They will facilitate the process by encouraging people to talk about the particular issues in dispute. They are trained in working in a family law environment and in responding to domestic and family violence. They are also trained in creating a supportive environment, particularly for the safety of vulnerable people. They should provide a safe environment to allow people to openly discuss and clarify issues as well as allow them to feel safe to disagree. An FDR practitioner is accredited under the standards set out in the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008.

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) vs. Parenting Coordination: What’s the Difference?

🔹 Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is usually a one-off mediation session (or a few sessions) designed to help separated parents reach agreements on parenting arrangements or property issues. It’s often a required step before going to family court. The focus is on negotiating and finalizing agreements.

🔹 Parenting Coordination is an ongoing process where a neutral professional helps parents manage and implement court orders or parenting plans. The Parenting Coordinator assists with day-to-day co-parenting issues, helps reduce conflict, and supports better communication over time.

In short:

FDR helps you make agreements.

Parenting Coordination helps you make those agreements work in real life.

At GC Mediations, we offer both FDR and Parenting Coordination services across Australia—via Zoom or in person—helping families find peaceful, practical solutions for their children. 💛
