Secret battles with ourselves. That loud inner critic with big opinions on what you could be doing differently.

Anxiety

It takes us out of this moment and flings us to far away places, causing us to become heightened or numb. Our nervous system is doing its job thinking it is keeping us safe because it all feels too much.

Bringing ourselves back into our bodies safely and slowly can allow us to resettle and reconnect with ourselves and those around us.

Because Arts Therapy uses so many of our senses through art materials, sound and movement, it can help with calming our nervous system and bringing us back into the here and now.

It’s in the here and now that we can think clearly again and make the best choices to support our wellbeing.

See if tapping in to your senses and really pausing in the experience helps you next time things feel a bit too much.

A moment to breathe, to settle back into our bodies, to find a feeling of safety within ourselves in these very challenging times is so important.
It’s a lot at the moment.
Find avenues where you can offer support if you are able. But if you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, exhausted, it is completely ok to take time out from it all to regroup. Our nervous systems are doing the best they can, and we need to meet them with support and kindness.
