This year has taken me deep into the world of FemTech. Investigating data, privacy, transparency, and what it truly means to build ethical technology for women’s health. It’s been eye opening, confronting, and incredibly meaningful.

I created a framework to evaluate the ethical performance of menstrual cycle tracking apps, which eventually led me to Berlin where I had the opportunity to see behind the scenes at Clue Period Tracker and to interview their CEO, Head of Science, and Director of Data to ask all the questions I have been exploring on this journey.

Today, I’m finally sharing the film that came from all of this work.

This year has taken me on a deep exploration of the intersection between FemTech, ethics, and innovation.

My research has taken me on a rollercoaster of emotions as I uncovered lack of regulation and loopholes that make it far too easy for companies to say the right things without ever being held accountable to their promises. Which matters so much in a space that handles sensitive health information.

Along the way, I developed a vetting framework assessing FemTech companies across 36 criteria in 6 key categories, designed to give consumers a way to evaluate how these products actually perform in areas that matter most to them.

This research ultimately led me to Clue, who stood out as a leader in ethical FemTech innovation. I had the privilege of visiting their head office in Berlin, meeting their team, and asking the questions that have driven this entire exploration.

This week, I’ll be releasing a film months in the making "Does Ethical FemTech Actually Exist?"

It’s the final chapter of this exploration, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

This is one of the biggest privacy scandals you’ve probably never heard about.

A billion dollar menstrual cycle tracking app, Flo, built trust by assuring users their most intimate health information would stay private. Instead, lawsuits and an FTC settlement revealed data was quietly shared with tech giants like Meta (Facebook), Google, and analytics firms.

This raises urgent questions about the ethics of FemTech and if we can trust privacy policies at all??

In this investigative deep dive, I uncover what really happened between Flo and Meta, why and how sensitive reproductive health details ended up in the hands of big tech and what this means for us (consumers) and FemTech moving forward.

This is one of the biggest privacy scandals you’ve probably never heard about. If you used Flo or any period tracker, this is a story you need to hear.A bill...

✨ A small but meaningful win for transparency in FemTech ✨

In my video “The Truth About Cycle Tracking Apps” (now at 1.1M+ views on tiktok and 1K on YouTube) I raised concerns about Stardust’s App Store listing and website which included logos from TechCrunch and VICE in their “As seen in” section, a space most consumers recognise as endorsements.

The problem? These articles weren’t endorsements at all. They were critical in nature. Exposes and warnings.

Before releasing the video, I emailed Stardust twice, pointing out that this presentation could appear disingenuous and misleading. I received no reply.

Now, 2 months after my video which ripped open an ongoing public conversation from women outraged by this practice, both their App Store listing and website have been updated, and the misleading logos have been removed.

I can’t say with certainty that my video caused this change, but with the timing and the public outcry (2300 comments on tiktok), I can’t help but feel it played a role. And this is why I do the work that I do: pushing for accountability and transparency in FemTech.

Do I endorse Stardust now? Still no. This update doesn’t erase the broader concerns about whether this company’s priorities truly align with serving women.

But this is a step forward. A small win. And proof that when women speak up, change does happen. And perhaps now they will make better choices moving forward.

💬 To the women who watched, shared, and raised their voices.. this win belongs to you too.

I spent a morning on the Gold Coast interviewing 11 women to uncover how much they actually know (and don’t know) about the apps they trust with their most intimate data.
