🌊 OT Swimming Therapy + Water Safety 🌊

We’re so excited to announce that Living Well OT is opening in Tweed Heads South 🎉

Weekday aquatic Occupational Therapy sessions will soon be available at
📍 Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre

These 1:1 sessions will support children, teens, and adults with disability and neurodivergent experiences to build skills in a fun, supportive water environment.

Aquatic OT can support:
✔️ Fine + gross motor skills
✔️ Sensory regulation
✔️ Emotional wellbeing
✔️ Social confidence
✔️ Independence
✔️ Water safety

A strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach where everyone is supported to feel safe and capable in the water. NDIS funding can be claimed under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living.

A quick update from Living Well OT – Occupational Therapy

Some new days have opened for telehealth appointments, with availability across January, February, and March for NDIS children, teens, and adults.

Current telehealth availability includes:
📅 January: 20th, 22nd, 26th, 27th, 29th
📅 February: 2nd, 16th, 17th, 24th
📅 March: 3rd, 16th, 17th, 23rd

Support is provided with a strong focus on collaboration, clarity, and comprehensive, timely reports. Telehealth services available include:

• Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
• Short Term Accommodation (STA) – FCA + STA
• Supported Independent Living (SIL) Assessments
• Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Assessments
• Combined SDA + SIL Assessments
• NDIS Access Reports
• Letters of Support
• Ongoing occupational therapy for all ages

Telehealth can be a flexible and effective option, supporting participants in their everyday environments while reducing wait times and travel demands. Self and plan managed only.

We’re excited to welcome Sofia to the Living Well OT team. She will begin supporting families at Mudgeeraba Aquatic this Sunday, the 7th of December.

Sofia brings a vibrant mix of knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm. She has a strong foundation in early intervention, paediatric occupational therapy, Montessori principles and primitive reflex integration. We’re thrilled for our community to meet her and experience the dedication and joy she brings to every session. Welcome to the team, Sofia!

Donna is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of water-based programs and loves supporting children through to adults in engaging, meaningful ways. She brings not only expertise but also a warm, kind, and approachable nature that instantly puts clients, families, and colleagues at ease. Her genuine care ensures every session is encouraging, positive, and tailored to each person’s needs.

You can find Donna bringing her energy, kindness, and enthusiasm to sessions at the Pimpama Sports Hub on Sundays, where she combines fun, creativity, and therapy to make every water-based session a memorable and uplifting experience.

Leanne is an Occupational Therapist who brings energy, creativity, and a passion for helping people engage in meaningful activity to her work at Living Well OT. With years of experience providing aquatic therapy to people of all ages — from children to teens and adults — and across a wide range of abilities and disabilities, she designs sessions that are fun, dynamic, and purpose-driven. Leanne uses the properties of water to support motor skill development, sensory processing, coordination, and confidence, tailoring each session to individual goals and functional outcomes. She particularly enjoys working with children and teens, helping them feel safe, empowered, and motivated to explore new challenges. Through aquatic therapy, Leanne fosters independence, engagement, and a sense of achievement, ensuring every client can thrive in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

We’re so excited to welcome the Wanyé to the Living Well OT team!

Wanyé is an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist with nearly five years of experience supporting individuals of all ages and abilities. He’s passionate about empowering children and families through neuro-affirming, strengths-based approaches, with a special love for sensory integration and supporting neurodivergent individuals.

Having represented South Africa in water polo during high school, it’s no surprise that Wanyé feels completely at home in the water! His lifelong love of swimming and aquatic activities has flowed naturally into his professional passion for aquatic therapy. He believes the water is the perfect space for fun, movement, and meaningful growth—helping children regulate, engage, build skills, and grow confidence in a playful way.

You can find Wanyé making a splash at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre on Sundays, bringing his warmth, humour, and creativity to every session.

We’re thrilled to have Wanyé join the Living Well OT community—get ready for plenty of smiles, energy, and water fun ahead!

Starting early December, we’re bringing Aquatic Therapy to Woolloongabba, Loganholme, and Pimpama — available Sundays only!

Led by Donna, an experienced AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist, these sessions use the unique properties of water to help children and adults reach their therapy goals in a calm, supportive, and fun environment.

Here’s how Aquatic Therapy can make a difference:

We’re excited to announce OT-led Aquatic Therapy sessions at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, starting late October 2025, on Sundays.

Aquatic therapy provides a therapeutic environment designed to support:
✨ Sensory regulation – the water’s movement and buoyancy help the body feel calm and alert.
✨ Coordination & balance – improve motor planning and functional movement in a safe, supportive setting.
✨ Problem-solving & everyday skills – purposeful activities tailored to individual goals.
✨ Play skills – engaging water-based play encourages exploration, creativity, and learning.
✨ Water safety – develop confidence and skills to stay safe in and around water.
